Whether you prefer exploring the world as a lone wanderer or teaming up with friends to battle powerful enemies, Where Winds Meet lets you choose your level of interaction. The game can be enjoyed entirely on your own, but playing with others greatly enhances the experience.
Where Winds Meet offers optional multiplayer that enhances the single-player experience without becoming a massive online game. You can easily join or leave cooperative play whenever you want, whether it’s to team up for a tough battle or simply explore the world with a friend. It’s a flexible system designed to fit your playstyle.
Playing Co-Op with Friends in Where Winds Meet
Playing with others in Where Winds Meet is optional, but the game offers two main ways to do it: Online Mode and Co-Op within Solo Mode. These modes are designed for different experiences, so understanding when to use each one will make your gameplay much better.

You begin by choosing whether to play alone (Single-Player) or with others (Multiplayer). Don’t worry, this isn’t a final decision! You can easily switch between playing solo and with friends at almost any point in the game. This means you can experience the story on your own, then team up for tougher parts or just for the fun of playing with others.
Most cooperative activities in the game can be enjoyed with up to five players, including the host, and are great for exploring the world, completing side quests, tackling dungeons, and defeating bosses. However, when facing Sentinel Beings, you can team up with up to ten players, creating huge, epic battles. It’s important to remember that the game doesn’t adjust difficulty based on player levels – the challenge is determined by the host’s level.
How to add Friends in Where Winds Meet
To play with friends, you’ll first need to add them to your friend list. Luckily, doing so is easy once you’ve unlocked multiplayer mode.
Unlocking Multiplayer and Friends
You can start playing with others once you reach Level 10. You’ll earn this level simply by playing the main story and completing side quests. After unlocking multiplayer, you’ll be able to:
- Online Mode.
- Co-op matchmaking.
- The Social menu and Friends list.
Adding Friends via User ID
Every player has a unique User ID (UID). And to add someone you already know:
- Open the Social menu.
- Go to the Friends tab.
- Select Add Friend.
- Enter their UID and send a request.

Also, you can add friends through online play by:
- Interacting with nearby players.
- View their profiles.
- Send friend requests directly.
This is a fantastic way to connect with new friends, particularly after working together on events or offering help. Once you’re connected, you’ll both see each other on your friends lists and can easily invite each other to play anytime.
How to play with Friends in Where Winds Meet
After you’ve added friends, it’s easy to start playing together. The game offers several options for creating or joining groups, depending on what you want to do.
Switching Modes and Inviting Friends
To start a co-op session:
- Tap the Mode Switch icon at the top of the screen.
- Choose either Online Mode or Solo/Co-Op Mode.
- If using Solo/Co-Op, open the co-op menu and invite friends directly from your list.

You can create special codes to invite friends to play with you, even if they’re on a different device. This makes it simple to enjoy the game together no matter what platform everyone is using.
Co-Op Matchmaking and Lobbies
Inside the co-op menu, you’ll find:
- Active co-op rooms you can join
- Options to create your own room
- Lobby settings for managing party members
You can play with up to five players in a session, and you’ll journey across the map together, tackling challenges and completing goals as a team. Playing together earns you Adventure Slips, which you can trade for helpful items, so cooperation is both enjoyable and beneficial.
What You Can and Can’t Do in Co-Op
Where Winds Meet features cooperative play alongside its main story, allowing you and friends to experience much of the game together. You can tackle side quests, revisit bosses, explore dungeons and trials, discover the open world, participate in events and mini-games, and battle massive Sentinel Beings – all in co-op.

Playing with others is perfect for improving your equipment, tackling difficult challenges, or just exploring the game world together. Where Winds Meet also includes a helpful assist system: if you’re stuck, you can place a sign to ask for help, and other players can join your game to lend a hand.
Playing with others in Co-op adds unique elements not found when playing alone. For example, some serious injuries, like broken bones, can only be fully healed with help from another player, not just by computer-controlled characters. This means playing with others is truly essential, not just a helpful option.
