Where to pre-order Disney’s Star Tours limited edition playset
As a long-time Star Wars enthusiast who’s been riding the Star Tours since its inception back in ’87, I can confidently say that Disney has outdone themselves with this collector’s playset! With my nostalgia goggles firmly in place, I find myself eager to part with a cool $300 for this piece of history.
Although it wasn’t necessary for Disney to create such a detailed playset for Star Tours, they did, and now I find myself spending $300 on a replica of an older Disney World attraction. This collector’s item was unveiled during the D23 fan event and offers a meticulously crafted reproduction of the StarSpeeder 3000, as it initially appeared in the original Star Tours attraction back in 1987. Beginning on Aug. 12, this model will only be available for purchase through the Disney Store, with each customer limited to one unit per transaction.

The StarSpeeder 3000 model, when placed on its illuminated stand, measures about 24 inches in length and 14 inches in height. It boasts various light-up features across its exterior such as blasters, thrusters, and headlights. A tiny button located at the rear of the ship operates the side doors for boarding, and it also plays the original greeting from RX-24’s pilot, voiced by Paul Reubens.
The entirely replicated interior is a breathtaking reenactment of the authentic ride, featuring an LCD screen that plays clips from the original Star Tours experience, and adjusts the lighting within to match the content being shown. Additionally, RX-24 and his sidekick, R2-D2, are incorporated into the playset and can be strategically placed on top and inside the StarSpeeder 3000.
Star Tours has now been upgraded to an even more dazzling iteration of the same attraction. However, for those who prefer the original experience, this toy set offers a close approximation.
