A recent Marvel rumor from insider MyTimeToShineHello suggests a reason for Luke Cage’s long absence from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to the source, Luke Cage has been secretly working with the CIA, which could explain why he hasn’t appeared on screen for several years.
Recent reports suggest that Mike Colter will reprise his role as Luke Cage with a brief appearance in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, which began streaming on Disney+ on March 24, 2026. According to MyTimeToShineHello, Colter’s role will be a cameo, meaning he won’t be a major part of the story. What this appearance means for his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still unknown.
According to sources, including insider Alex P., the heroes from The Defenders – Luke Cage and Danny Rand (Iron Fist) – will be back in Season 2. Krysten Ritter is also confirmed to reprise her role as Jessica Jones. Another source, MyTimeToShineHello, suggests Jessica Jones and Luke Cage will have a daughter who appears in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again. However, the show’s producers haven’t officially confirmed this new character yet.
Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again picks up the ongoing conflict between Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, who is now the mayor of New York City and leading a task force against vigilantes. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio return as Daredevil and Kingpin, respectively. Joining the cast is Matthew Lillard as Mr. Charles, a CIA agent who, according to Lillard, influences the fate of countries around the world.
New episodes will be released weekly on Disney+ until May 5, 2026. This eight-episode season is part of the sixth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
