Where is Zoe Ball? Concerns mount over star’s five week absence from Radio 2 show
As a dedicated fan with years of tuning into Zoe Ball’s infectious energy on Radio 2, it’s undeniably concerning to see her absence for over five weeks now. I’ve been with her through her ups and downs, her laughter echoing across the airwaves as she shared her life experiences and bonded with listeners like me.
Supporters and peers of Zoe Ball have expressed worry, as she has been absent from hosting her Radio 2 morning program for nearly a month now.
The celebrity who earns an annual salary of £950,000 and is the BBC’s top-earning woman, last hosted the program over a month back, specifically on August 8th.
Previously, Ms. Ball took a vacation to Ibiza with her son Woody and daughter Nelly, and she also participated in the Brighton Pride event.
She then returned to work for three days before leaving the show.
Gaby Roslin and Scott Mills have temporarily taken over, yet the BBC hasn’t given a reason for her being away. The only statement made so far is from a representative who mentioned that she would return later in this month.
53-year-old Ms. Ball has been uncharacteristically absent from social media, with her last post on Instagram dated August 5.
It featured a picture of her with her two children saying she was ‘jet lagged, brighton pride lagged [and] ibiza lagged’.
One BBC insider told The Mail on Sunday: ‘Nobody knows what has happened but everyone loves Zoe.
We’re hoping all is well. The absence of Zoe at the BBC is quite conspicuous because she’s deeply cherished there.
The Corporation is understood to have been contacted by fans concerned for her welfare.
But some listeners have taken a dim view of her taking time off without explanation.
One tweeted: ‘Is this a BBC scandal, complete misuse of licence payers’ funds.
‘Zoe Ball gets to pick and choose her contract terms and conditions.
“She rarely shows up at her job; it seems like she takes more vacations than anyone could count. Is it fair that we’re footing the bill for this? I won’t weigh in on that.” (Paraphrased with a more conversational tone and less confrontational language)
Another added: ‘Why are the BBC still paying Zoe Ball when she is still off air, just get rid of her for someone who does want to work early morning shift. ‘
In March, Ms. Ball announced that she would be temporarily stepping away from work due to the illness of her mother, Julia Peckham, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
In the month of April, she passed away, while he resumed his job on the 13th of May. Previously, Miss Ball had a three-week vacation in Corfu last year, dedicating her time to direct Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream for a competing network, ITV.
