Where is Joseph Duggar? Former TLC star transferred from jail amid extradition plans after child molestation arrest

As a longtime follower of the Duggar family, I was shocked to learn Joseph Duggar has been moved from an Arkansas detention center. This happened after his arrest in Florida, where he’s accused of a truly awful crime involving a young girl. It’s a heartbreaking situation, and I’m following the developments with a heavy heart.

A 31-year-old man with four children was arrested in Tontitown, Arkansas earlier this month. He’s accused of sexually touching a girl during a family trip to Panama City, Florida in 2020, specifically touching her genitals and underwear.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Duggar has not been held in their custody since March 27th.

The reality TV personality, previously known from TLC, was supposed to be transferred to a Florida jail run by the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, but doesn’t currently appear on the jail’s list of inmates.

According to People magazine, prosecutors haven’t officially charged Duggar in Florida yet. The authorities also wouldn’t say whether Duggar has been transferred to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette, Josh Duggar was moved from an Arkansas detention center to Florida on Friday by Washington County prosecutors.

The Daily Mail has reached out to the Washington and Bay County Sheriff’s Offices for more details, but hasn’t received a response yet.

Joseph Duggar, age 31, was arrested in his hometown of Tontitown, Arkansas. He lives there with his wife and their four children.

Florida authorities have arrested him on charges of sexually molesting a child under the age of 12, as detailed in a police report.

Investigators were told that nearly six years ago, during a family vacation in Panama City Beach, Duggar allegedly touched a nine-year-old girl inappropriately on multiple occasions.

Her father confronted Duggar about the allegations last week, the affidavit states.

Officials state that Duggar later confessed, in a recorded conversation, to inappropriately touching the victim through her clothes and admitted his motives were improper.

After being arrested in Arkansas, he was held while authorities arranged to transfer him to Florida. Two days later, his 27-year-old wife was also arrested.

Kendra and Joseph Duggar each face four charges related to putting a child in danger, and four charges of unlawfully restricting a child’s freedom.

Authorities say that those charges are separate from Joseph’s previous sexual abuse charges.

Officials haven’t revealed what Kendra is being accused of, but she has been released on a $1,470 bond.

Last Friday, Joseph called Kendra from jail using collect call, just a couple of hours after she’d been released. He told her he was being held in solitary confinement, according to People magazine.

Page Six reports that Joseph hasn’t received any visits from his family while in jail. His lawyer is the only person who has come to see him.

Joseph told his wife on the phone last Friday that he’d been spending a lot of time reading the Bible, which someone had given him while he was incarcerated.

He explained that for 23 hours a day at the Washington County Detention Facility in Arkansas, he was limited to a space only 8 by 10 feet in size.

Joseph mentioned he’s been confined to a small space, but he’s been using the time to read and rest. He admitted, however, that he’s not been sleeping well at night.

The recent arrests have deeply affected the Duggar family, who are still dealing with the legal troubles of Josh Duggar, Joseph’s older brother.

In 2021, Josh was found guilty of having illegal child sexual abuse material and was sentenced to over 12 years in federal prison.

The arrests of Joseph and Kendra follow a similar case involving Joseph’s older brother, Josh, who was convicted almost five years ago of possessing illegal material. Josh, now 38, was also accused of sexually abusing five girls, including his own sisters, but was never formally charged with those allegations.
