Margot Robbie and her younger brother Cameron once appeared to be thick as thieves.
Cameron, age 31, often joined his famous older sister, Margot (35), when she returned to Australia to promote her hit films. He hopes to become an actor and model himself.
However, it seems Cameron has since disappeared from Margot’s side.
The last time they appeared together at a public event was the Babylon movie premiere in January 2023.
I’ve been keeping up with Margot’s work, and it’s been lovely to see her back in Australia promoting both ‘Barbie’ and ‘Wuthering Heights’! It’s a shame though, I haven’t spotted Cameron anywhere during these appearances – I was hoping to see them both!
The actress, who has a one-year-old son with her husband Tom Ackerley, recently went to the Sydney premiere of her new movie, Wuthering Heights.
Last Thursday, she and her Australian co-star, Jacob Elordi, walked the red carpet together at the State Theatre.
Even though Cameron had previously voiced support for his sister online, he didn’t show up to the event and didn’t mention it on his Instagram.
The up-and-coming actor recently shared a photo on Instagram of himself with friends, taken in Byron Bay in early January.
In April 2025, Margot traveled to Australia to spend time with her family and friends, including her husband Tom and their son.
From what I’ve seen, it’s hard to say whether Margot Robbie and Cameron Diaz had a chance to reconnect during that period. Photos only show her with her mom, Sarie Kessler, so we don’t know if they spoke or spent time together.
Cameron was also a no-show during Margot’s Barbie media blitz throughout 2023 and 2024.
She received the Trailblazer Award at the AACTA Awards, but her brother, Cameron, didn’t attend the ceremony or publicly acknowledge her achievement.
It seemed strange, especially since he had strongly supported her at the EE British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) in February 2020.
Cameron and his sister were seen together at the event, and he later shared a photo of them online as a heartfelt tribute.
He jokingly ribbed Margot for not winning either of the awards she was up for, then playfully bragged that he’d never lost a BAFTA – pointing out that this was because he hadn’t been nominated before.
Cameron wasn’t seen with Margot on the red carpet in Australia during the Barbie premiere in 2023, shortly after they’d both attended the Babylon premiere a few months earlier.
He accompanied Margot to the film’s premiere in January, but wasn’t there to greet her when she came home in June.
Margot promoted Barbie with appearances at two events that month: a party hosted by Vogue Australia to celebrate the movie’s release, and a special event for her Australian fans.
The first event took place at the Sydney Museum of Contemporary Art, and Margot stunned everyone with her pink Versace dress.
The fan event was held at Pitt Street Mall, and Margot Robbie was joined by her Barbie co-stars America Ferrera and Issa Rae, and director Greta Gerwig.
Cameron didn’t attend either event and didn’t publicly express any support for the Barbie movie online.
The youngest of the Robbie siblings is used to being in the public eye, as he tries to achieve the same success as his older sister.
He’s best known for roles in the TV show Neighbours, the 2016 short film People You May Know, and the 2023 movie Romance at the Vineyard.
Cameron has also worked as a presenter for MTV. In March 2018, he unexpectedly appeared during an interview Margot was giving while she was promoting her movie Peter Rabbit in Australia.
Margot cried out in surprise and alarm as her younger brother unexpectedly interrupted the interview. She repeatedly asked, ‘What are you doing?!’ and ‘What’s going on?’
It was lovely watching Cameron and Margot connect! After their initial meeting, they had a really warm and playful exchange while Cameron was introduced to Elizabeth Debicki, Margot’s colleague. It felt very natural and comfortable – a true sign of a blossoming connection!
Later that year, Cameron also posted a heartfelt message about Margot after she presented with Chadwick Boseman at the 2018 Oscars.
He said he was ‘excited’, ‘proud’, and ‘happy’ for his older sister.
Cameron still posts online frequently, but he hasn’t spoken about his sister, Margot, since the Babylon movie premiere last year.
He was last seen in Byron Bay on January 9th, sharing a video of his trip that showed him hanging out with friends and getting cozy with a woman.
It looks like he’s stopped acting recently and is now focusing on becoming an online influencer.
Cameron has been a regular attendee at events for well-known brands like Hermès, Camilla and Marc, Ralph Lauren, Marriott, and Calvin Klein.
He has over 51,600 followers online, including many well-known Australian celebrities and social media personalities.
This news follows rumors from a few years ago about Margot and her father, Doug, who were said to be distant.
The famous actress doesn’t often talk about her father, who made his fortune in the sugarcane industry and now lives in Airlie Beach. She once mentioned in an interview back in 2016 that they are very different people.
Margot grew up with her three siblings – Anya, Lachlan, and Cameron – and was raised by their mother, Sarie, a physiotherapist, after her parents separated in the 1990s.
While Wayne, Doug’s brother, says they aren’t completely estranged, it’s obvious their relationship isn’t as close as most fathers have with their daughters.
They first connected when Margot Robbie visited Sydney in 2023 for the premiere of her movie, Babylon, which didn’t perform well.
In 2016, Doug was seen at a café watching Margot’s appearance at the Oscars on television. Margot herself hasn’t spoken much publicly about their relationship.
Margot Robbie, known for her role in Barbie, has often spoken highly of her mother, sharing in interviews how she raised four children on her own.
In a 2014 interview with GQ, she shared that her mother is the kindest person she knows and she’d be happy to become just like her, calling it an honor.
It’s unclear what kind of relationship Margot has with Doug, and she doesn’t seem interested in talking about it.
Despite reports to the contrary, Doug’s brother, Wayne, who runs a major real estate company on the Gold Coast, said they are not estranged and do stay in touch.
‘That has never been the case,’ Wayne told The Daily Mail in January 2023.
‘He certainly does have a relationship with her. He is very proud of her.’
Margot and her siblings, Anya and Cameron, don’t seem very close to their father, but her older brother, Lachlan – who everyone calls Lockie – is quite close to him.
Stunt performer Lockie has shared a few pictures of his beloved pet over the years on social media.
In 2015, he posted a Father’s Day message acknowledging that Doug hadn’t always been emotionally present, but had consistently provided financial help.
He acknowledged not having a traditional family, but expressed gratitude for the support and education he received when he needed it.
