The House of Stark was notably absent from the show’s premiere, leaving fans wondering if they’ll appear at all this season. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms tells the story of Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and his young squire, Egg, as they travel and have adventures throughout Westeros. The first season focuses on building the relationship between these two characters and how they first began working together.
In A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the story centers around a tournament at Ashford where Dunk is competing to win prize money by facing skilled knights from across Westeros. He meets characters from Houses Dondarrion and Baratheon, but notably, no one from House Stark attends the event.
House Stark Won’t Appear In A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms Season 1 (Unless There Are Book Changes)
The series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is based on George R.R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg stories. The first installment centers around a tournament where Dunk, a relatively unknown knight, tries to make a name for himself. Notably, the House Stark family doesn’t participate in the tournament within the original stories.
Based on the trailer for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, it looks like House Stark won’t be featured in the upcoming episodes of season 1. The story will primarily focus on Houses Baratheon and Targaryen, and unless there’s a major plot twist, we shouldn’t expect to see the Starks.
What’s Going On With House Stark During A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms‘ Timeline
The story of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms takes place many years after the events of House of the Dragon, but almost a century before Game of Thrones. Westeros is enjoying a period of peace, having rebuilt after the devastating Dance of the Dragons – a long and expensive civil war that ultimately led to the extinction of dragons.
The show appears to be set in the year 209 AC. Based on the history of Westeros, this would mean Cregan Stark, the ruler of the North, might still have been alive, likely in his last year of rule. At this time, the Starks weren’t heavily involved in the wider events of Westeros and largely remained within their own territory in the North.
It’s doubtful we’ll see the Starks in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Their story doesn’t connect to the events of Dunk and Egg’s first adventure, and they aren’t a particularly powerful family yet in the show’s timeline. While not impossible, it seems they’ll remain focused on their own affairs in the North.
