Feeling a bit ‘Frankenstein’-ed out? Don’t worry, another movie based on the classic story is coming! While Mary Shelley’s tale has been retold many times, the question is, does it matter as long as the new film is good? Following the premiere of Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, The Bride is set to release in theaters on March 6, 2026. Directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, this film aims to be just as compelling as its predecessor and offers a fresh perspective by focusing on the Bride’s story.
The new film, The Bride!, is a reimagining of the Frankenstein story set in 1930s Chicago. It begins with the Monster, played by Christian Bale, asking a doctor to create a companion for him – he’s having trouble meeting women anywhere else! The doctor creates The Bride (Jessie Buckley), but things don’t go as planned. The film also features strong performances from Jake Gyllenhaal and Penélope Cruz. If you can’t make it to the cinema, it will soon be available to rent or stream at home.
When ‘The Bride!’ Will Be Available on HBO Max

Warner Bros.
First Love Films and In the Current Company made the movie The Bride!, and Warner Bros. is distributing it. As with most Warner Bros. films, this Gothic romance will be available to stream on HBO Max after it finishes playing in theaters. This is because both Warner Bros. and HBO Max are owned by the same company, Warner Bros. Discovery. However, that could change once Warner Bros. and Paramount complete their merger.
Warner Bros. movies typically become available on HBO Max between 30 and 45 days after they premiere in theaters. Recent releases in 2025 follow this pattern. For example, A Minecraft Movie started streaming on June 20th, about 10 weeks after its April 4th theatrical release. Final Destination Bloodlines became available on August 1st, roughly two and a half months after its initial release. Similarly, the critically acclaimed Sinners arrived on HBO Max on July 4th, also around 10 weeks after hitting theaters on April 18th.
Okay, so HBO Max hasn’t given us a date for when we’ll be able to stream The Bride just yet, but I’m making a pretty good guess based on how they’ve released other popular films this year. If they follow that pattern, we’re likely looking at an April 15th release. That’s usually when new movies hit their streaming service, and it’s almost always on a Friday – perfect for a cozy night in!
When ‘The Bride!’ Will Be Available Digitally

As a movie fan, I’ve noticed a big trend lately: big studio films are hitting digital platforms before they land on streaming services. And that’s the plan for The Bride!—you’ll be able to rent or buy it digitally through premium video on demand as soon as it’s released. Think Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, Google TV, and Vudu – that’s where you’ll find it first before it potentially shows up on a subscription service.
Warner Bros. films typically become available on Premium Video on Demand (PVOD) about four to six weeks after their theatrical release. For example, Final Destination: Bloodlines was in theaters on May 16th and became available digitally around June 17th, roughly four weeks later. However, Sinners, which premiered on April 18th, took 45 days to become available digitally.

The quick release of Sinners was unusual and happened because the movie was a big hit. Typically, Warner Bros. films wait four weeks before becoming available digitally. However, James Gunn’s Superman became available after just 35 days, even though it was still performing well in theaters.
Similar to how many people already know the story of Superman, this new movie isn’t predicted to be a huge global sensation. It will likely follow the typical four-week theatrical release schedule planned for 2025. This means you’ll probably be able to rent or buy it digitally shortly after Easter Monday, as most digital releases happen on Tuesdays. Will you see Frank and the Bride’s unique love story in theaters, or wait to enjoy it at home?
