When does Destiny 2 Episode Heresy start? Countdown, launch time, and more
The final of three episodes before we embark on Destiny 2’s Frontiers update.
In just a short while, we’ll be diving into the concluding chapter of Destiny 2’s post-The Final Shape content series, titled Episode Heresy. After uncovering the Echoes of The Witness and vanquishing the Vex in Episode: Echoes, our journey led us to thwart the Scorn overlord Fikrul in Episode: Revenant.
It’s my turn now as a devoted fan to delve into what awaits us in Episode: Heresy! Let’s explore its launch, uncovering fresh activities, dungeons, PvP alterations, and much more!
When does Destiny 2 Episode: Heresy begin?
The adventure titled “Heresy” commences on February 4, coinciding with the routine game update. Prepare for Destiny 2 servers to be offline temporarily as they install the fresh episode content.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excited to share some good news! For my fellow U.S. players, you can expect the servers to be back online early in the morning, ready for your gaming adventures. European gamers, you’ll get access to the latest episode in the late afternoon – perfect for winding down after a busy day. And for those of us in Asia and Australia, we’re in for an early treat on Feb. 5! Let’s gear up and enjoy the game together!
Players who are eager to finish the tasks related to Episode: Revenant have until the reset to wrap things up, as these Revenant-related activities will no longer be accessible when Episode: Heresy launches.
When does the new dungeon, Sundered Doctrine, open to players?
In the upcoming Episode: Heresy, there won’t be a fresh raid. Instead, players will journey through the Dreadnaught and revisit Rhulk’s Pyramid ship via a newly accessible dungeon named Sundered Doctrine. This exciting venture commences on February 7th.
During the initial 48 hours, the game mode for Sundered Doctrine will be set to a challenge, referred to as “Competitive Mode”. This means that enemies will be more formidable and the damage inflicted on guardians will be reduced. Completing Sundered Doctrine in this Competitive Mode will earn you the contest emblem associated with the dungeon, along with additional rewards.
The team that successfully completes Sundered Doctrine first will earn the prestigious title and trophy known as the World’s First Title, along with various other rewards. Competing to be the World’s First isn’t for the timid; if you’d rather watch than participate, tune into Bungie’s official World First stream on February 7 or catch your favorite content creator’s broadcast on Twitch!
To access Sundered Doctrine, players should ensure they’ve finished the Heresy prologue missions, obtained the Tablet of Ruin Artifact, and reached a Power level of 1,995 or above.
What’s new in Episode: Heresy?
Eris Morn is reaching out for assistance. Together with Commander Sloane and the Drifter, she has detected a source of disturbance on an abandoned Hive warship orbiting Saturn.
Since our last proper visit on the Dreadnought was during Destiny 1’s The Taken King expansion when we battled against Oryx, the Taken King, we haven’t had the chance to fully explore this vast ship. However, Guardians could enter it through the raid King’s Fall in Destiny 2. Now, it returns as a complete destination for players to delve deeper into its mysteries.
In a fresh adventure dubbed “The Nether“, guardians venture into the ominous Dreadnaught and eliminate countless Taken and Hive entities while probing the suspicion that the Spirit of Oryx might be making a comeback. Bungie has hinted that this activity draws inspiration from The Coil, an acclaimed adventure from Season of Wish.
In this episode, there won’t be any Exotic armor to pursue. Instead, two Exotic weapons are introduced: firstly, the Barrow-Dyad, a SMG from Strand, and secondly, the Loadstar, a primary trace rifle. Notably, the Loadstar is an Exotic weapon that comes with the season pass, whereas we’re unsure about how to acquire the Barrow-Dyad at this time.
Beyond what’s already here, Heresy will also bring significant additions such as extensive modifications to the Crucible and Trials of Osiris, in addition to substantial alterations in the subclasses, notably for Titans.
