When are Ranked Matches coming to Pokémon TCG Pocket?
Matches in Pokémon TCG Pocket will soon be decided by rankings, so it’s time to assemble your top-tier deck and aim for the highest spots on the leaderboard!
Overlooked detail: The addition of Ranked Matches is being introduced to the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket. At the February 2025 Pokémon Presents event, a new booster pack was unveiled, along with information about some upcoming in-game events.
After the conclusion of the announcements, there was a brief notification about the introduction of a competitive mode in the mobile card game. Therefore, we’d like to share with you the timeline for when ranked play will be available, and when you can begin your ascent up the rankings.
When do Ranked Matches release in Pokémon TCG Pocket?
In simple terms, you can expect to begin your ranked matches in Pokémon TCG Pocket by the end of March 2025.
As a gamer, I’m excitedly waiting and keeping my fingers crossed for the upcoming release – hopefully, it will drop by late Thursday or early Friday of March 28th. So, stay tuned!
How will the ranked system work?
More information isn’t available yet about how ranked matches will function within the Pokemon TCG Pocket game. However, we might infer how it could operate by examining other Pokemon games for clues.
In all likelihood, you’ll encounter multiple ranked sessions, with your position being reset at the end of each one. You’ll then have an opportunity to strive for a higher rank once more. Additionally, it seems unlikely that there will be limitations on the types of cards or decks you can employ.
Consider the structure of the VGC (Video Game Championship) battle ladder as a model. It comprises six levels – Newcomer, Skilled, Specialist, Seasoned, Elite, and Champion – that players can progressively ascend, each having its own sub-divisions.
Players begin at the initial level for beginners and progressively move up the rankings as they play. In the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) Online, matches could follow a similar pattern, and your placement at the end of each season might earn you certain rewards.
