As a longtime fan of Tim Burton’s enchanting creations and a collector of manga, I can hardly contain my excitement for these upcoming releases! The black-and-white version of The Nightmare Before Christmas manga was already a delight, but now, with the full-color edition hitting shelves just in time for Halloween, it’s like stepping into Halloweentown itself!
In 2017, the Tim Burton film “The Nightmare Before Christmas” was transformed into a manga by Tokyopop. This unique adaptation essentially retold the original movie’s story using a distinct manga aesthetic. The drawback was that it was only published in black and white, but that’s changing now.
Perfect timing for Halloween enthusiasts, or for those who consider “The Nightmare Before Christmas” a festive movie, Tokyopop has commenced publishing the manga in vibrant colors.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but share my excitement over the revamped Disney Manga edition of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. This full-color manga, penned by Jun Asuka, who previously enchanted us with Disney Fairies: The Petite Fairy’s Diary, spans an immersive 176 pages. What sets this edition apart is the stunning new cover artwork, masterfully crafted by none other than artist Manuel Puppo, a name synonymous with Marvel’s Voices.
You can currently pre-purchase the item on Amazon, which is set to be released on Halloween, October 31st. Typically, it sells for $19.99, but right now, you can get a 20% discount and order it for $15.98 instead.
In addition, scheduled to arrive in October is “Disney Manga: Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas – Zero’s Journey (Ultimate Full-Color Graphic Novel Edition)”. This deluxe collector’s item brings together the complete ‘Zero’s Journey’ series, colorized for the first time, in a single hardcover book. It also features an exclusive cover illustration by Kei Ishiyama, one of the original artists from the initial series, that has never been published before.
Zero’s Adventure picks up where the tale of The Nightmare Before Christmas ends, focusing on Zero, Jack Skellington’s loyal ghost dog, as he embarks on a quest to return to Halloweentown after being lost in Christmas Town. The storyline goes:
