The popular Scottish comedy Two Doors Down is returning for a Christmas special! Though the show ended in August 2023 after the passing of co-creator Simon Carlyle, a new episode set for Christmas 2025 was announced in July 2024. Expect the same hilarious, neighborly antics from Latimer Crescent!
Elaine C Smith, star of the show Two Doors Down, described returning to set as “very emotional” in a recent BBC interview. She admitted she wasn’t sure if the show would continue, especially after the passing of Simon, and couldn’t imagine facing filming again. However, she was delighted to reunite with the cast and crew, who all felt a strong sense of joy and pride. She added that it felt like Simon was present with them, and it was wonderful to share laughter again.
As Joy McAvoy mentioned, Beth and Eric can expect their neighbors on Latimer Crescent to continue bothering them, as usual.

The popular story Two Doors Down is now a live stage show. You can see it at the Hydro in Glasgow from September 25th to 27th and again from October 9th to 11th, 2026.
Surprisingly, all of the actors will be performing on stage together. The play takes place inside Eric and Beth’s house, and the story centers around an important announcement made by Ian and Gordon.
It’s unclear if the upcoming Christmas special will connect to the live stage show, but Kieran Hodgson, who plays Gordon, shared that Gordon is attempting to improve himself. However, his efforts are met with teasing and embarrassment by Beth and Eric – which, according to Hodgson, is exactly what should happen.

Two Doors Down Christmas special plot: What’s happening at Latimer Crescent?
When Eric and Beth decorated for Christmas a little early, it unexpectedly sparked the holiday season on their street. What began as a simple time-saver soon led to a wave of cheerful activity, as everyone on Latimer Crescent began preparing for the holidays in their own special way.

Alan and Michelle are facing travel problems that could ruin their holiday, and Christine is organizing a surprise trip. As always on Latimer Crescent, there’s plenty of fun, laughter, and a bit of friendly neighborhood mayhem happening!
Two Doors Down Christmas special cast: Who is returning for the special?
Look, Christmas just isn’t Christmas on Latimer Crescent without Beth and Eric, is it? Thankfully, I just heard Arabella Weir and Alex Norton are both coming back to play them, which is awesome! I’m so relieved – it wouldn’t be the same without them.
Weir expressed how wonderful it was to reunite with the original cast and revisit their roles. He also shared that his late co-creator felt very present during the experience, and would have been thrilled to see them bring the show back – just as the cast themselves were delighted to be returning.
Norton said it felt strange reuniting with the cast initially, but once they were back in costume and in Eric and Beth’s living room, it quickly felt like no time had passed at all.
The cast also includes Doon MacKichan and Jonathan Watson playing Cathy and Colin, Elaine C. Smith as Christine, Grado and Joy McAvoy as Alan and Michelle, and Jamie Quinn and Kieran Hodgson as Ian and Gordon.
