Slow Horses Season 5 spoilers follow.
With the recent finale of Slow Horses season five, Christopher Chung, who plays Roddy Ho, has shared his thoughts on Kristin Scott Thomas’s character, Diana Taverner, becoming First Desk and what that might mean for the show’s next season.
In an interview with Radio Times, Chung explained that as the new season begins, Taverner has finally achieved all her goals. She’s worked and planned for this position for a long time, and now she has it.
What to Read Next
It’ll be fascinating to watch how she uses her newfound power. Now that she’s in control, the big question is where she’ll take things – it’s a great moment to leave the audience wanting more.
Diana finally got the promotion she’d been hoping for in the fifth season’s finale, thanks to Jackson Lamb’s scheming. He forced Diana’s boss, Claude Whelan, to quit, and in return, promised to leave her alone at her workplace as long as she didn’t interfere with his operations at Slough House.
The sixth season of Slow Horses will adapt the next two novels by Mick Herron: Joe Country (published in 2019) and Slough House (2021).

Diana and Jackson agreed to stay out of each other’s way, but it appears Diana is the one who’s gone back on their agreement.
The sixth season of Slow Horses finds the team forced to go on the run after Diana Taverner gets them caught up in a dangerous game of revenge. Apple TV+ shared a trailer for the new season – which is currently being edited – right after the season five finale, though a release date hasn’t been announced yet.

After five seasons, Will Smith has stepped down as showrunner of Slow Horses, with Gaby Chiappe taking over for season six. Ben Vanstone is now leading the show as production begins on season seven.
While the show isn’t necessarily finishing for good, Season 5 wraps up storylines that began in the first season, which felt like the right time for someone else to take over, according to Smith in an interview with Deadline.
You can watch the first five seasons of Slow Horses on Apple TV+. Season 6 doesn’t have a release date yet.
