What really goes behind the most X-rated show on TV? Producers of Aussie Shore reveal how they are allowed to air full-frontal nudity, sex and ‘pee transplants’

What really goes behind the most X-rated show on TV? Producers of Aussie Shore reveal how they are allowed to air full-frontal nudity, sex and 'pee transplants'

As a long-time fan of reality television and having grown up with the golden era of MTV, I must say that Aussie Shore has certainly taken the X-rated reality series to a whole new level! The cast’s antics have left me feeling like my own partying days were tame in comparison.

Behind the scenes of the supposedly most explicit reality show on Australian TV, “Aussie Shore,” things may not be exactly as they appear.

In a twist, Charlotte Crosby, formerly from Geordie Shore, is now leading the Australian version of the popular reality TV shows Geordie Shore and Jersey Shore, which were massive hits in both the U.S. and the UK during the mid-2010s.

In a recent statement, the former icon of nightlife at 34 years old admitted that her younger Gen Z followers have made her party antics seem rather mild, and she finds the original series to be as exciting as watching paint dry.

In just the initial two episodes, the diverse group of 11 housemates hailing from different parts of the nation have surprised viewers with graphic sexual content, full-body nudity, and an unexpected medical procedure referred to as a ‘penis transplant.’

In the most recent installment, one of the residents tries to invite an outsider to return to the opulent residence located in Cairns, Queensland.

During my recent night on the town, I encountered Elliot and invited him for an impromptu visit to the lavish seaside abode that served as our temporary residence for five weeks while we filmed.

In this captivating series, viewers will witness an unprecedented level of camaraderie and interaction among the cast members that might surpass their everyday encounters with others. As your go-to lifestyle guide, I can assure you it’s a spectacle not to be missed!

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’ve come across some fascinating insights from the executive producer of Aussie Shore, Dan Sheldon, and here’s why: There are indeed several compelling reasons behind this.

The X-rated series is billed as: ‘We’re hot, we’re horny, and we’re ready to f**ing party.’

However, the wild sex scenes viewers see on-screen have caveats.

Instead of the golden era of reality TV that millennials grew up with, watching shows while at home with AOL and MTV, today’s producers now hold a significant responsibility for ensuring the well-being of their cast members.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d advise anyone considering spending the night at a new acquaintance’s place after a night out to be aware that thorough safety measures are in place. Before you can step onto the property, strict security checks will be conducted to ensure everyone’s well-being and peace of mind.

In my commitment to maintain sobriety, I found myself standing before the grandiose rental estate on Hibiscus Lane, nestled in the serene beauty of Holloways Beach.

‘It’s a long detailed process,’ Sheldon told news.com.au.

Nothing prepares the scene for what could appear as an intense one-night encounter quite like a group of production team members conducting thorough consent verifications, background investigations, criminal history checks, police clearances, court records reviews, and medical screenings.

‘They have to have written right consent as well, and there’s a 20 minute cooling off period. It’s very strict. Brutal.’

Sarah Thornton, who serves as Head of Popular Factual at Network 10 for Paramount ANZ, stated that certain Shore series (with over 15 locations worldwide, including the UK’s Geordie Shore) prohibit their cast members from inviting outside individuals.

Filming a group of boozed up 20-somethings running wild in a fully-funded party house, while also quietly intervening so that nothing actually dangerous happens, ‘is already ‘a logistical nightmare,’ she said.

Thornton mentioned that other Shore outlets had implemented comparable guidelines, yet, in keeping with the unique spirit of Australian nightlife, extra safety measures were put in place.

As an ardent admirer, I’d put it this way: ‘It seems to me that the cast enjoys a unique sense of authentic liberation, encapsulated within a protective sphere. Meanwhile, countless individuals tirelessly work behind the scenes on crucial matters, ensuring that this sanctuary remains secure and safe.’

The cast and production team were informed that anyone returning needed to be sober, present their passports for identification, provide on-camera consent, and undergo thorough background checks.

One of the enduring defenses for ‘low-brow’ or ‘eyebrow-raising’ reality TV has always been its sort of anthropological value.

Unplanned discussions serve as an uncanny snapshot of a particular era in society. For instance, a contestant from the UK’s Love Island became widely known after she tearfully learned that Brexit might affect her European vacations.

Catia Sinigaglia expressed on TikTok recently that, as an ardent admirer of Jersey Shore, she felt Australian Shore might not shine as brightly as its original versions.

The self-proclaimed ‘Hot Mess’ and shameless flirt said ‘times have changed’ and ‘we’re very different’ from the casts of the 2010s.

The 23-year-old fitness instructor has gained popularity due to her straightforward candor, which many believe embodies the authentic spirit of Australian culture.

Even though the actors went through extensive training on consent, members of the backstage crew mentioned that they needed to step in frequently to address inappropriate behavior among the actors.
