This wasn’t a secret, illicit encounter in a rundown place, like a cheap hotel or a public restroom. It wasn’t even a clumsy, alcohol-fueled moment at a social gathering.
Okay, so I’ve been following this whole Lachie Neale thing obsessively, and get this – the place where it all started with his wife’s best friend, Tess Crosley? Apparently, it was at the gym! I mean, seriously? The gym?! I just… I need to know everything. It’s just so shocking to find out where it all began!
I know, I know, you’re forgiven for being shocked.
I’ve always thought of the gym as a really positive space, a place where people strive to improve themselves, both physically and mentally. It’s honestly shocking to me when I hear about relationships being damaged there – it feels like the opposite of what it should be all about. Shouldn’t it be a place for self-improvement, not something that tears people apart?
For many, the gym is like a modern retreat for personal growth – a place to relieve stress, get in shape, and build self-control.
Most of us feel good – and maybe a little proud – after a workout, knowing we’ve done something positive for our health.

Well, some of us do, anyway.
Others, it would seem, use the gym for an entirely different purpose.
It seems Lachie and Tess were meeting secretly at their local gym to spend time together, avoiding their spouses.
Though, according to one gym-goer, that time was perhaps not quite so secret after all.
People noticed Lachie being very affectionate with Tess near the weight machines and thought he and his wife, Jules, had secretly split up and that he was now single.
A slick reporter at News.com.au eventually worked it out.
On December 7th, Tess posted a glamorous selfie taken in the comfortable changing rooms at Total Fusion, a fitness studio in the trendy Newstead area of Brisbane.
Lachie was recently highlighted on the gym’s Instagram, sharing his preferred exercise routine. It makes you wonder, though – exactly what does he consider his ‘favorite’ workout to be?

An innocent coincidence?
Considering the chaos that ensued, and reports that the two individuals behaved like excited teenagers between performances, it’s hardly surprising things went wrong.
While you might be shocked, dear readers, this old hack is not – and I’ll tell you why.
Here’s a surprising truth many husbands might not realize: women don’t always go to the gym just to work on their inner thighs. There’s often more to it than that!
People work out to get in shape, whether it’s to build muscle or lose weight. But let’s be honest, they also want to look good and attract attention – especially from the attractive, fit men at the gym, who are also noticing the confident, stylish women working out there.
Honestly, I can hardly blame them.
Many mothers prioritize their families for years, and often neglect their own needs as a result. They frequently skip exercise – whether it’s a morning workout or an evening session – to manage everyday tasks like preparing meals, attending meetings, and getting their children ready for bed.
Initially, these women don’t see these behaviors as major problems: their husbands often arrive home late, seem distant, rarely acknowledge their efforts, and even have the nerve to be inconsiderate in private.
What does it matter if they’ve put on a few kilos?
I’ve noticed a really common pattern with moms I work with. Once the kids are a little older and they start getting some of their time back, they often turn their focus to themselves. It’s not just about ‘getting back to normal,’ it’s about rediscovering their own confidence and feeling good in their bodies again. They want to feel strong, vibrant, and yes, even desirable – and that’s completely natural and something I fully support. It’s about reclaiming that part of themselves they may have put on hold.
The return to the gym isn’t about starting an affair. Not at first.
Suddenly, they found themselves surrounded by incredibly fit and disciplined men. These men seemed powerfully masculine, projecting an image of dominance rather than appearing lazy or passive.
Don’t believe me, husbands? Let me tell you a little story then.
I won’t reveal anyone’s identity, but I remember meeting a woman at a gym in Bondi Beach. She was blonde, fit, and around 40 years old, and I learned she was married. I was really impressed by her energy on the stair climber and how confidently she used the weights – unlike me, who usually felt nervous and unsure in that area.
And she looked absolutely banging in Lycra.
We started talking one day, and I asked her why she was there. She admitted it was to meet men.
She found herself more attracted to them when they were younger. Although she first started going to the gym to improve her health, it was the positive impact on her sex life that motivated her to continue.
She confessed to having multiple affairs with younger customers, and her husband was completely unaware. He believed she prioritized her health and fitness, while she was actually using her appearance to attract men for sexual encounters.
It takes much to surprise me, yet I was genuinely shocked.
Seriously, at the gym? Look, I get it – everyone’s had a crush on someone at the gym. They can definitely make your workout a little more enjoyable, right?
I’ve always avoided getting involved with anyone at work or the gym. I have a personal rule against mixing personal and professional life – or, frankly, any space where I spend time pursuing my hobbies.
My workout partner definitely saw things differently than I did. She let me in on all the gossip and drama happening at the gym. When I told my friends about it, they weren’t shocked at all – they’d expected something like this.
One even said it was the easiest way to cheat. After all, it’s the perfect camouflage.
It’s perfectly normal for a woman to be at the gym, and spending a long time there simply shows dedication. If she returns home looking tired and immediately goes to shower, we assume it was a good workout… or is it?
Let’s face it, many husbands are happy when their wives go out, anticipating a benefit to their intimate life.
What they don’t know is, they’re not the only ones.
Spare me any outrage. I’m merely pointing out an uncomfortable truth.
It works both ways, too. Spare a thought for the wounded wives here.
Jules had no way of knowing what Lachie was truly doing. Being married to a professional athlete, an extra hour spent at the gym seemed perfectly normal, so it didn’t raise any suspicions.
I’ve seen pictures of Jules working out, so she’s definitely fit – though she seems to be much more disciplined about it than her husband is.
I’ve got more receipts about gym affairs, if anybody wants them.
When I worked as Samantha X, I lost track of how many men told me their wives were having affairs with their personal trainers.
I once met a man who shared a memorable story: his ex-wife left him for the personal trainer she’d received as a birthday gift.
Before anyone gets upset, let me clarify: I’m not criticizing women who prioritize fitness, making fun of husbands, or suggesting that gyms are inherently bad places.
But let’s not ignore the inconvenient truth staring us in the face.
Infidelity happens – men sometimes have affairs with coworkers, and women sometimes cheat on their partners while socializing. It’s an unfortunate reality, and many believe it’s something we simply have to accept.
Trying to get your wife to give up her gym membership is probably a lost cause, just like asking your husband to quit a well-paying job. You’ll need to accept that and move on.
That’s why I’ll say it again: husbands should be quaking.
For many women, going to the gym isn’t simply about getting in shape. It’s about unlocking a feeling of confidence and sensuality. That feeling – the strength and physical awareness – is available to them, a hidden power they can embrace.
Look, I don’t think Tess and Lachie intentionally went to the gym hoping to meet someone else – honestly, I really don’t. But what I do know is that affairs rarely just happen out of the blue in a random hotel. They usually start with someone you already know, someone you see regularly. That’s just how it usually goes.
It starts with a friendly connection, shared feelings, and harmless chats. These connections often grow when there’s a little time away from their everyday routines and when their partners aren’t around.
They begin in places like the gym.
