What is Venus Vacation Prism? – Dead or Alive Xtreme explained
As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming experience under my belt, I must admit that I was initially skeptical about Venus Vacation Prism: Dead or Alive Xtreme. The concept of a dating sim without the traditional sports element in the Xtreme series seemed like a departure from its roots. However, being a fan of the Dead or Alive franchise since the early 2000s, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and curiosity about this new direction.
The Venus Vacation Prism represents the sixth title in the spin-off series of Dead or Alive Xtreme. Instead of volleyball games, this version focuses on romantic encounters and dating experiences.
The newly released game, titled “Venus Vacation Prism: Dead or Alive Xtreme,” is part of the Xtreme spin-off series created by Koei Tecmo.
It’s worth noting that unlike previous installments in the spin-off series, Venus Vacation Prism: Dead or Alive Xtreme will forgo sports elements. Traditionally, the Xtreme series has been known for its volleyball and other beach sports. Instead, this game is categorized as a “Deeply Immersive Romantic Adventure Game”, which was revealed at TGS 2024.
Venus Vacation Prism: Dead or Alive Xtreme
In essence, Venus Vacation Prism will function as a romantic simulation game. Players will have the opportunity to visit various dating spots alongside one of five starting female characters, engaging in interactions and capturing moments using a built-in photo feature. The character you choose will engage in activities such as feeding you, flirting, and even laughing at your humor.
While you might not receive that level of uninterrupted focus without spending something, the upcoming dating sim will incorporate gacha features. Similar to its free-to-play predecessor Venus Vacation: Dead or Alive Xtreme, this game offered various gacha outfits for characters like swimsuits and evening dresses. Look forward to more information about the outfits being revealed around the launch in early 2025.
In today’s era of games that heavily focus on female characters like Venus Vacation Prism, it doesn’t stand out as unusual. Games such as Goddess of Victory: NIKKE by Shift Up, Stellar Blade, Zenless Zone Zero by MiHoYo, and even Dead or Alive Xtreme from Venus Vacation share this trend with great success. However, the graphics of Venus Vacation Prism: Dead or Alive Xtreme could use some improvement.
In the first decade of this millennium, the Dead or Alive series, a well-known 3D fighting game franchise, thrived alongside others like Virtual Fighter, Soul Edge, and Tekken 3. The Dead or Alive franchise was unique as it provided online multiplayer functionality, sometimes even being showcased at World Cyber Games events. Nevertheless, the most significant fights taking place within this series are likely to be between players, debating which character they should invest their draws on.
Characters
Even though the game is from the Dead or Alive series, it’s unfortunate to mention that Kasumi and Ayane aren’t present in this particular version yet. As for now, just five out of the total six female characters have been unveiled: Honoka, Tamaki, Elise, Fiona, and Misaki.
Lovers of the Dead or Alive series might recall Tamaki, who made her appearance in Dead or Alive 6 – the most recent installment in the Dead or Alive fighting game series from 2019. Tamaki was introduced as a downloadable character in March 2020.
A familiar figure is Honoka, who initially appeared in Dead or Alive 5 Last Round but rose to prominence in Dead or Alive 6. In contrast, Elise, Fiona, and Misaki are all fresh characters introduced in the preceding game. Notably, Misaki has gained significant attention from the developers, serving as the poster girl for both games.
Venus Vacation Prism: Dead or Alive Xtreme Platforms

The sixth Dead or Alive Xtreme instalment
As a passionate fan, I’d like to share that the captivating game you see before you, Venus Vacation Prism: Dead or Alive Xtreme, is, in fact, the sixth instalment of the enthralling Xtreme spin-off series. It all began with the release of Dead or Alive 3 in 2001, which sparked an innovative idea among the developers to create a spin-off beach volleyball game. This game was christened Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball and graced our screens in 2003.
In the case of the developers, there was no mistaking their understanding that this project catered primarily to the fans (fan service). However, when it comes to Venus Vacation Prism: Dead or Alive Xtreme, it appears they are less hesitant about expressing themselves more explicitly.
Six years will have passed since the last Dead or Alive game was released by the time it comes out in early 2025.
