What happened to Hightown on Starz and where can you watch it now?
As a dedicated fan who has been following shows since the golden age of VHS tapes, it’s disheartening to see yet another favorite series vanish from the streaming platform so soon after its finale. I remember the days when you could rewatch your favorite episodes at any time, not having to worry about them disappearing overnight like a thief in the night.
Following a run of three seasons, the popular series “Hightown” concluded in March 2024. Given that it’s an original production from Starz, one might expect the option to watch it at your leisure anytime. Regrettably, this is not so
Approximately a few weeks following the final episode’s broadcast, Starz decided to take down the show called Hightown from their streaming service. This sudden removal left fans feeling disheartened since it happened unexpectedly
As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but feel the familiar pang when another beloved series vanishes from a streaming platform. I remember Max taking down some of my favorites a few years back, but it seems even Paramount+ and Disney+ have followed suit. It’s a bitter reminder that our favorite shows aren’t always here to stay, and those streaming contracts might not be as golden as they seem. And hey, let’s not forget the good old days of DVDs!
Where to watch Hightown now
It appears that the series has not moved to a different streaming service at the moment. However, this does not necessarily imply that it won’t be available on another platform in the future
What are your choices for watching the show? You can opt to purchase the episodes digitally. This implies visiting Amazon Instant Video, iTunes, Google Play, or any other digital platform where you typically obtain your shows
Could Hightown head to another streamer?
It’s not the first instance where Starz has taken such action. The series “Heels” was a victim of getting canceled and being abruptly removed from their streaming platform last year. However, it will be available on Netflix starting in September, with both seasons streamable. It seems that Starz might be open to sharing its content elsewhere, which could potentially lead to “Hightown” following suit
This could end up being a good thing for the series. We all know that more eyeballs are on Netflix rather than Starz. While it probably won’t mean the show being saved from cancellation, at least the creators are getting paid.
