The upcoming movie *Wicked: For Good* just surprised fans by announcing who will voice the Cowardly Lion. Director Jon M. Chu recently shared that he contacted the actor—who remains a secret—through Instagram, and that the voice reveal won’t happen until the film premieres.
Even though Chu recently mentioned something else, the official *Wicked* movie account on Instagram announced today that Colman Domingo, known for *The Four Seasons*, will be providing the voice for a character in the film.
A brief video posted online shows Domingo playfully hiding behind a stuffed lion, then revealing himself. He says, “See you in Oz,” as the video introduces him as the Cowardly Lion.

People online were thrilled with the voice reveal. One user exclaimed they were “obsessulated” by it, echoing director Jon M. Chu’s prediction, while another praised the actor as truly deserving of the celebration.
“Surprised they shared this before the premiere, but I am so thrilled!” wrote another.
In a recent interview with *Deadline*, Chu explained that he initially contacted Domingo through a message on Instagram.
I remember when I asked him if he’d be up for recording a few lines, knowing he was super busy. I figured it wasn’t a huge ask, and I offered to go to him. He was so enthusiastic – he basically said, ‘Why wouldn’t I?’ and we jumped right into recording!
He said it’s going to be amazing when the actor famous for voicing the Cowardly Lion walks the red carpet.
Wicked: For Good is released in cinemas on 21 November.
