As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for celebrity dynamics, I must say that the news of Joshua Malina and Melissa Merwin’s impending divorce is indeed surprising yet not entirely unexpected. With nearly three decades together, it’s always challenging to navigate life’s twists and turns, especially in the limelight.
Actor Joshua Malina’s spouse of almost 28 years, Melissa Merwin, has filed for divorce.
According to documents obtained by TMZ on Monday, Merwin stated in legal records that ‘insurmountable disagreements’ led to her separation from the 58-year-old West Wing actor.
Since December of 1996, Merwin, who is a costume designer, has been married to Malina, hailing from New York City.
She didn’t list a separation date on their split, according to the outlet.
As a devoted follower, I’m sharing the news that I, Merwin, have asked for spousal support from Malina in our recent separation. It’s important to note that since our children are legally adult, there’s been no request for child support in this case.

The report mentioned that the documents suggested Merwin was attempting to peacefully settle the separation, preferring a small role for the court.
Malina and Merwin have been a couple since 1996. They first met through Merwin’s sister, Jennifer, and his former brother-in-law, actor Timothy Busfield.
Malina has had a number of prominent TV roles over the past three decades.
From 2002 to 2006, he portrayed Will Bailey in NBC’s The West Wing. Then, from 2011 to 2019, he played President Siebert on CBS’s The Big Bang Theory. Lastly, he took on the role of David Rosen in ABC’s Scandal between 2012 and 2018.
Malina also played the role of Jeremy Goodwin on the ABC series Sports Night from 1998-2000.
Over the past few years, you might have spotted him appearing on various series like Inventing Anna, The Rookie, Shameless, This Is Us, and The Good Doctor.
Previously, Malina has appeared in notable TV series like House, Bones, and Grey’s Anatomy, along with films including Bulworth, The American President, and A Few Good Men.
As per iMDb, Merwin has previously been involved with the costume and wardrobe teams for movies like Fallen, Bad Girls, Point of No Return, Ruby, and The Wizard.

As stated by Playbill, it’s anticipated that he will take the stage this autumn at London’s Marylebone Theatre, where he will lead the cast in “What We Talk About When We Talk About Anne Frank,” a play by Nathan Englander.
The play is scheduled to be staged from October 4th through November 23rd, with Patrick Marber serving as director, as reported.
In the upcoming London production, Malina is set to make his first on-stage appearance in the city, taking on the role of Phil. Previously, he’s graced the stage on Broadway, featuring in performances of “A Few Good Men” and “Leopoldstadt,” as reported by the outlet.
