As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for cinema and its history, I must say that Wesley Snipes’ recent achievement is nothing short of remarkable. The actor, now 62, has solidified his place in the Marvel universe by breaking not one, but two world records with his iconic role as Blade.

Wesley Snipes playfully displayed his wit upon discovering that Guinness World Records had verified not one, but two new records he had set.

After donning the costume once again as Blade/Eric Brooks, Snipes surpassed the record for longest career as a live-action Marvel character. This milestone was reached on the 25th anniversary of the release of Blade (1998), with a total of 25 years and 340 days served as the superhero.

He fittingly surpassed Hugh Jackman as Logan/Wolverine when he took hold of the news world record.

Moreover, the Snipes’ cameo as Deadpool and Wolverine broke a record for ‘the greatest time elapsed between a character’s appearances in Marvel movies.’ His last appearance was 19 years and 231 days prior, which dates back to Blade: Trinity (2004), marking the third film in the series.

In the past, Alfred Molina had the distinction of holding a record for 17 years. This was due to his initial portrayal of Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man 2, released in 2004. Remarkably, he reprised this role once more in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which hit theaters in 2021, thereby extending his tenure in this iconic character.

“Wow, seriously?! Does that mean I get a certificate as well?” Snipes appeared a bit surprised to learn this news on Instagram.

“He exclaimed excitedly, ‘Lordy, Lordy, Lordy…Thank you Guinness World Records! I’m a huge fan of yours!’ Following this, he appended some hashtags: ‘#DaywalkerClique’, ‘#DaywalkerApproved’, ‘#MHS’, ‘#DWM’, ‘#DaywalkerMobile’, and ‘#DaywalkerNetwork.'”

Notably, Marvel Studios has plans for a fresh take on Blade, set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This upcoming reboot will feature a different cast, with Mahershala Ali taking on the lead role.

In the series Blade, the protagonist transforms into a skilled vampire slayer, driven by a desire for retribution against the bloodsuckers who took his mother’s life.

He does this by teaming up with a man called Whistler, a retired vampire hunter and weapons expert.

The initial Blade trilogy was well-received and financially successful at global cinemas. The first movie, helmed by Stephen Norrington, earned $131.2 million against a production budget of $45 million.

In financial terms, the initial sequel directed by Guillermo del Toro outperformed its production costs significantly, raking in $155 million while spending only $54 million to produce it.

In the end, the final movie helmed by the Snipe family, Blade: Trinity, managed to gross a total of $132 million, although its production costs were higher at $65 million.
