The renowned LA eyewear brand, Oliver Peoples, has crafted unique sunglasses for Benicio del Toro’s character in Wes Anderson’s upcoming masterpiece, The Phonecian Scheme. In honor of the movie’s premiere, Oliver Peoples has unveiled a limited edition collection of luxurious collector’s pairs, inspired by the bespoke shades seen in the film.

10 Premiere Edition sets, all crafted by hand in Italy, will be delivered, each with unique packaging inspired by the film’s nostalgic atmosphere. In an Instagram post, the brand shared that Anderson found inspiration in Benicio del Toro playing a European business mogul, reminiscent of characters from Antonioni films, stating, “I envisioned him in it; I saw him and his sunglasses.

The movie starring the renowned Guillermo del Toro will debut in select cinemas this Friday, following its premiere at Cannes Film Festival. Photos from the film reveal del Toro donning a stylish vintage look, with distinctive tortoise-shell spectacle frames and a streamlined design. Notably, the glasses have gold-toned rivets along their edges and sculpted temples, which bear a Premiere Edition number on the inside in a metallic finish.

The Phoenician Scheme

In this movie titled “The Phoenician Scheme,” we follow Zsa-Zsa Korda, portrayed by del Toro, who embarks on a journey to save his business and mend his relationship with his daughter, played by Mia Threapleton. The star-studded cast also includes Scarlet Johansson, Tom Hanks, Michael Cera, Riz Ahmed, F. Murray Abraham, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Bill Murray. “The Phoenician Scheme” will be available at select theaters this coming Friday, with a wider release on June 6 in cinemas across the country.
