Wendy Williams says ‘it’s about time’ Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs faces the music: ‘So horrible’
As a longtime fan of daytime talk shows and a keen observer of celebrity dynamics, I must say I’m not at all surprised by the legal woes that have befallen Sean “Diddy” Combs. Wendy Williams has always had an uncanny knack for calling it like she sees it, and her insights into the music industry are unparalleled.
Despite taking a break from her daytime TV show, Wendy Williams continues to comment on one of the most controversial scandals in the music industry today.
Wendy Williams, the presenter of “The Wendy Williams Show”, who has been avoiding the limelight since before her aphasia diagnosis, recently shared her thoughts on Sean “Diddy” Combs and the damaging accusations that have affected his public persona over the past year. In an interview published weeks following Combs’ arrest, Williams expressed that she wasn’t taken aback by the legal troubles of the now-disgraced entrepreneur.
Williams, 60, told the Daily Mail during a conversation published on Tuesday, “Many people have said to me, ‘You were right, Wendy.’
Following Sean “Diddy” Combs’ arrest on September 16 in New York, many fans speculated on social media about how Williams would have addressed this news on her now-defunct talk show. One fan humorously suggested she might invite the audience to clap if they believed Diddy was guilty, while others remembered that Williams had often been critical of Combs. Even before his arrest, there had been renewed tension between them, leading to articles revisiting her past criticisms.
In the month of November 2023, a lawsuit filed by Combs’ former girlfriend and musician Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura was the initial one to allege the rapper of rape, sexual assault, as well as other misconducts.
Despite being swiftly established, her lawsuit sparked an influx of further claims and unsettling accusations about a long-standing pattern of sexual misconduct spanning decades. Combs was recently apprehended as part of a wide-ranging federal investigation into charges of sex trafficking. He has entered a plea of not guilty for all allegations: three counts of sex trafficking, racketeering, and facilitating prostitution.
On Tuesday, lawyer Tony Buzbee announced at a press conference that Diddy (Combs) is expected to be hit with another lawsuit containing accusations from over 100 individuals, a number of whom were minors when the supposed incidents occurred.
Additionally, Williams discussed troubling security camera recordings depicting Combs physically abusing Ventura at a Los Angeles hotel back in 2016.
She expressed to Daily Mail, “I’ve been expressing my feelings on this for quite some time now, and it seems like the right moment has finally arrived.” She also noted that the video was incredibly distressing.
She went on to say, “Yet, you must ponder this question – how often will it happen again? How many lives will be affected? How many more sisters or friends? The thought is simply unbearable.
Despite attempts by his legal team to arrange for his temporary freedom through a bail hearing, Combs is still being held within the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, as he prepares for his upcoming trial.
