Wendy Williams Finally Steps Out of ‘Prison’ for Dinner with Don Lemon!

After a while, Wendy Williams made an appearance outside her care home, a place she referred to as a ‘prison’, for a dinner date with Don Lemon in New York City on a Thursday evening.

60-year-old TV personality, seeking to terminate her conservatorship managed by Sabrina Morrissey with the help of a new attorney Joe Tacopina, was additionally accompanied by her niece Alex Finnie and ex-CNN host’s spouse Tim Malone.

The team was spotted having lunch at Il Cantinori, nestled within Greenwich Village district of the urban area.

One day following reports that the star’s guardian allegedly declined a dinner invitation between Williams and his niece, along with the new lawyer, this past Wednesday.

A day after, Wendy exited the institution sporting a wide grin, followed closely by her niece Alex, who was at her side, leading them both to the bustling restaurant.

For her nighttime adventure, Williams opted for a stylish ensemble – a set of blue jeans shorts and a cozy black fur-like jacket. She added warmth with a pair of tights underneath and matching black fur-like boots to finish off the outfit.

Her long locks were parted in the middle and flowed down past her shoulders in light waves.

The TV figure effortlessly held a small black bag adorned with crocodile patterns in her hand, containing a few essentials for the evening’s dinner.

On a sidewalk outside a restaurant, Wendy’s niece assisted her aunt in boarding a red mobility scooter, taking a brief pause during their outing.

Outside, Lemon momentarily mixed with the star, donning a burgundy shirt, denim jeans, and brown suede footwear.

As he made his way towards the hotspot earlier that night, Don (formerly of CNN, let go in 2023) put on a gray puffa jacket to stay warm, with his partner Tim Malone walking by his side.

It appears that Wendy and Lemon share a strong bond of friendship, as evidenced by her recent appearance on his podcast, The Don Lemon Show, this year.

At that point, she conveyed her feelings as follows: ‘Currently, I find my life absurd. I’ve been under the care of this guardian for three years now. For the past three years, I’ve felt confined and secluded, much like being in a prison. I long to step outside, but I can barely move beyond looking out the window.’

Later, Lemon asked the celebrity if she was unable to function, to which Williams replied bluntly, “Absolutely not.” or “Certainly not.

In 2022, Wendy came under the care of Sabrina Morrissey as her legal guardian. Last November, Wendy stated that Williams had become ‘permanently disabled’ due to her struggle with dementia.

Back in 2023, the TV personality was diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia.

When Lemon mentioned her guardian’s accusations, Wendy responded by saying, ‘I’m not sure how freely I can speak without facing consequences.’

Later on, she expressed, ‘I find myself in a difficult situation. My life has become chaotic. As you may notice, this guardianship predicament is – could you see, I am secluded. It feels as though I’m confined within walls. It seems they are attempting to control me and every move I make.’

This past week, it was said that Morrissey prevented Wendy from departing from the care home known as Coterie for a meal with her niece and legal representative Joe Tacopina.

Instead of hiring Tacopina (who currently represents A$AP Rocky), the celebrity enlisted his services to aid in releasing her from a three-year long conservatorship.

A campaign titled “#FreeWendy” has sprung up recently, and just last week, Williams could be seen pounding on the window from within the institution, as protesters gathered in support outside on the street.

Instead, Morrissey shared with People this month that Wendy is resisting having specific medical examinations – an MRI brain scan and neuropsychological evaluation – as part of her efforts to be released from guardianship.

It was arranged that Sabrina would undergo medical examinations such as an MRI brain scan and a neuropsychological evaluation on March 21 for Ms. Williams, but she failed to attend the scheduled appointment.

The court mandated that the testing should be finished by March. However, Ms. Williams has chosen not to take part in the testing so far, resulting in the fact that the testing was not carried out.

I stated, ‘It’s crucial for parties involved to tackle the issues raised by the press only after thorough testing and evaluation have been conducted on Ms. Williams. The findings from these tests will guide us in determining the best course of action for her wellbeing moving forward.’

In reply, Wendy stated to the source: “I’m not aware of anything concerning that.” She followed up with a profanity, saying, “I’m open to discussing what I’m open to, but I can’t speak about it at this time.

Towards the end of March, it became known that Wendy decided to change her legal representation as a daring step towards releasing herself from the guardianship.

According to a report from Page Six, Ginalisa Monterroso, who is the CEO and founder of Connect Care Advisory Group, stated that someone is reportedly unable to function or act effectively, as they are allegedly incapacitated.

Translated phrase: ‘Typically, this refers to someone who is in a vegetative state, unresponsive to their environment and unable to communicate. However, that’s not the case with Wendy. Just take a look at her skillfully maneuvering her scooter. Is it possible for an incapacitated person to do that?’

She stated, “If I didn’t believe Wendy was cognitively sound and didn’t need care in a memory facility, I wouldn’t be openly supporting her in public.

Monterross stressed the significance of Williams securing a fresh legal representation, to facilitate her exit from the conservatorship.

She finds herself trapped in what she terms a lavish detention center… No arrangements have been made for her, no documents prepared, no court hearings scheduled. Not even a strategy or assistance was arranged for her.

Ginalisa shared that she converses with a star nearly every day and has additionally written a report to the Child Welfare Agency in New York.

Additionally, she shared with the media source that a physician in Florida had diagnosed her with dementia related to alcohol consumption back in 2019.

1) “Additionally, she has been dealing with significant thyroid problems since her thirties, including a condition related to thyroid-induced dementia. Moreover, she was diagnosed with Graves’ disease, which occasionally causes her eyes to protrude.

Monterroso further explained, “A guardianship is intended for individuals who may not realize when it’s cold enough to wear a coat during winter, forget to settle their bills, or get lost without knowing their location.

‘That’s not Wendy. So then why put an alcoholic in a memory care unit and throw away the key?’

Midway through March, Wendy’s assisted living home contacted the New York Police Department after she went out for dinner with her niece. A few days following this incident, Wendy chose to dine out in New York City again, demonstrating a stubborn attitude.

Last month, during an interview I eagerly watched on The View, Wendy made it clear that she vehemently rejects the idea of a guardian. To put it casually, she’s adamantly against Sabrina, full stop. You get the gist, right?

I no longer require a guardian. I wish to regain control over my finances and personal life, as it has been more than three years since this arrangement started. Don’t you agree that it’s long past due?

Williams stated, “I won’t be able to proceed with those two individuals once more as my guardian and judge. It’s impossible for me. What I really require is a different guardian.

Lawyers representing Morrissey claimed in a letter to DailyMail.com that the information about his guardianship is not truthful, incorrect, inadequate, or potentially deceiving.

In line with common practice in New York, this specific guardianship proceeding is maintained as a confidential case.

The court recently concluded that misinformation about Ms. Williams in the media is harmful to her and the guardianship.)

In a recent correspondence, I’ve made it clear that, unlike some media outlets may suggest, my role as guardian did not involve declaring Wendy Williams legally incapacitated. As a guardian, I don’t possess the authority to make such a determination.

Wendy made a call to Good Day New York, where she shared that she aced her psychiatric assessment.

Later, she shared information about the residence where she resides and added, “By the way, I live on the fifth level. It’s named the Memory Unit. This floor, let me tell you, is one that you might not recall much of. Isn’t it strange?

She mentioned that she can’t leave the building as it’s forbidden, and she needs permission to visit the gym which is situated on the third floor.

Wendy then emotionally stated that her money is ‘up in the air’ before saying, ‘This is my life.’

At the conclusion of the conversation, she revealed that breaking free from guardianship was her top priority.
