Wendy Williams ditches her wheelchair while modeling a minidress during NYFW amid health battle

As a longtime fan, it was so good to see Wendy Williams out and about at New York Fashion Week! It’s been a tough time with everything going on – her health and the guardianship situation – but she still managed to show up and support the fashion world. It really lifted my spirits to see her doing okay.

She did not use her wheelchair, which she has been seen in recently. 

The 61-year-old former talk show host was seen at a fashion show on Sunday, posing with designer Bach Mai and chatting with other fashion fans from a front-row seat.

I was absolutely captivated by her look at the fashion event! She wore this stunning black minidress, and the way she cinched it with a Gucci belt was just perfect. But the real surprise? Those amazing Chanel combat boots! It was such a cool contrast. She finished the whole thing off with a vibrant red lip and these effortlessly chic, loose waves in her hair. Honestly, she looked incredible – a total style icon!

She rarely goes out these days because she’s currently fighting for her independence in a legal case involving her conservatorship.

For more than three years, Williams has been under a legal guardianship, meaning someone else controls her money and healthcare decisions.

On Monday, she went to the Dennis Basso fashion show with Max Tucci, her niece Alex Finnie, and Alex’s fiancé, Eric Houston, according to Page Six.

In May 2022, a court appointed a guardian for Williams after Wells Fargo restricted her access to her accounts. The bank raised concerns about potential financial exploitation and stated she appeared unable to manage her own finances, according to legal documents.

Since a court put her under guardianship, the well-known former talk show host has been residing in a high-end assisted-living community in New York.

In 2023, she received diagnoses of primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, but she maintains she is still capable and able to function.

Williams has challenged her diagnosis and, with the help of her lawyer Sabrina Morrissey, recently filed a request to end the legal guardianship.

She repeatedly compared her guardianship to being in prison and was even seen holding up signs asking for help from her window.

Wendy Williams’ ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, has also become involved in the situation. He filed a $250 million lawsuit claiming Wendy is being abused and that a new guardian should be appointed, following an earlier statement Wendy made this year.

She recently had a thorough medical checkup, including many tests and brain scans, and received the results right before attending New York Fashion Week.

Recent, extensive medical and neurological testing, including brain scans, led doctors to form an opinion about Serena Williams’ neurological condition and provide a diagnosis, according to documents obtained by People magazine on Tuesday.

Although official documents don’t state her diagnosis, reports suggest that tests showed Williams has frontotemporal dementia and aphasia. She has since responded to these claims.

She stated in the following days that her lawyers were very concerned about the recent media attention regarding her health.

In recently filed court papers, Britney Spears’ lawyer asked the judge to continue the legal arrangement that controls her life for three more months, with a suggested end date of November 5th.

The lawyer also mentioned that problems have come up because several people – like the lawyers for some family members, Wendy’s former husband, and others – intend to fight both the legal guardianship and Ms. Morrissey’s position as guardian.

According to a source who spoke with Page Six, Britney Spears has considered a speaking tour to raise awareness about the need for better guardianship laws. She reportedly doesn’t plan to return to her career as a television host.
