Wendy Williams Aces Psychiatric Exam, Boosts Bid to End Guardianship
Wendy Williams may have gotten a major boost in her attempts to end her guardianship.
On Monday, the 60-year-old ex-talk show host visited Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, having been compelled to reside at an assisted living facility. There, she underwent an evaluation by a psychiatrist.
On Monday, it was reported by TMZ that Williams was given a top score on a ‘competency assessment’ conducted by a psychiatrist.
DailyMail.com has reached out to a representative for Williams for comment.
Based on the information available, Wendy took a 10-question survey intended to evaluate her understanding and decision-making skills. Remarkably, she answered every question correctly, scoring a perfect 10.
While a single test might not fully reveal her cognitive abilities, scoring exceptionally well on it could suggest that her understanding and awareness are more advanced than suggested by her guardian.
Williams had previously been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia.
Nevertheless, it was made clear that the test Williams took was not intended to challenge her diagnosed dementia.
Instead, it’s expected that the outcomes of the test will be disclosed to the judge who is currently managing her guardianship.
Lately, Wendy has been actively communicating with the media to argue that her situation has significantly improved and she is capable of handling both her care and finances independently.
William’s public relations efforts will broaden later this week as she plans to appear on national TV for the first time since receiving her dementia diagnosis.
Earlier reports indicated that before Williams went to the hospital, New York Police Department officers had conducted a wellness check on her at her senior living residence.
It was reported on Monday by sources to TMZ that Gina Monterroso, an individual not associated with Williams’ guardianship, is said to have arranged for Williams’ hospital visit and cognitive assessment.
It isn’t clear whether Monterroso works at the assisted-living facility or has a direct link to Williams.

Based on reports from TMZ, New York’s Adult Protective Services is currently examining issues related to her guardianship and her living situation in the facility, which has placed her in a limited memory unit. It seems that she enjoys less freedom compared to patients residing on other floors of the facility.
Williams asserts that she does not experience memory problems, which leads her to believe that her privileges should not be revoked.
She also reportedly doesn’t have freedom of movement on that floor.
Despite her guardian stating to Vanity Fair this month that “Wendy is not restricted from leaving a building”, Wendy herself has mentioned earlier that she was only permitted to step outside on just two occasions within a single month, and requires the supervision of an attendant before she can exit her floor.
As a lifestyle authority, I’ve learned from reliable sources that the esteemed Association for Psychological Science (APS) has been delving into the inner circles of the rumor mill, speaking with key figures such as the gossip magnate’s niece, Alex Finnie. It appears that the APS conducted interviews with her on Monday, according to reports from their staff.
Wendy also reportedly spoken with the organization recently.
Reports indicate that the NYPD is also looking into the details surrounding her time at the facility.
On Sunday, it was announced by ABC that Williams is set to make her debut on national television since she received a surprising dementia diagnosis, marking her first appearance in this capacity.

On Friday, March 14th, she is set to appear alongside the women of The View, despite her ongoing legal fight to terminate her guardianship.
Recently, Wendy has been trying to communicate more by using the phone, as she’s currently residing in an assisted living facility on a closely monitored memory care unit. This environment offers her limited freedoms and mobility rights.
Last month, she was granted a unique opportunity to take a break from her usual routine as her caretakers and the institution permitted her to travel to Miami for a brief period to celebrate her father’s 94th birthday.
It appears that Williams will return to television, but it’s uncertain if her appearance will be live, since ABC’s announcement suggests she’ll conduct a phone conversation with the hosts of The View (which includes Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin).
Instead, Wendy has been participating in live phone interviews lately, with her location being her room at an assisted-living facility. The unique aspect is that she stands by the window during these conversations, offering a clear view of her responses to the camera.
As a devoted follower, I’m excited to share that, based on The View’s program lineup, my upcoming phone interview with Wendy is scheduled to include Ginalisa Monterroso, the visionary leader and president of Connect Care Advisory Group.
According to their latest announcement, ABC proudly declared that The View has been America’s most-viewed daytime talk show for five seasons in a row.
For several years, the popular series, currently on its 28th season, has seen a variety of women step into hosting roles.

I’m part of the current team that hosts the talk show, with Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Sunny Hostin. Interestingly, Joy Behar is the only one who was on the original lineup.
In the year 2022, Williams found herself under a court-ordered guardianship following reports by Wells Fargo of unusual, questionable withdrawals from her bank account.
Afterward, she came under the supervision of a court-assigned guardian who managed both her financial affairs and made medical choices for her. Sabrina Morrissey served in this role as her guardian.
Following Williams’ diagnosis with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia in February 2024, Morrissey stated that the individual was suffering from significant cognitive impairment and was permanently disabled as a result.
Lately, it appears as though Wendy is arguing that she isn’t incapacitated, and she insists on getting back her personal liberty.
Previously, TMZ shared information suggesting that Wendy’s transfer to a stricter section within her care home could potentially explain her decreased outdoor activities.
As reported by an employee who frequently interacts with Wendy, upon her arrival, she was first assigned a room on the third floor that allows for free movement in and out by its occupants.
Nevertheless, trouble arose quite early during her term as the extended lunch she took at the eatery and watering hole situated on the upper level of the facility became an issue.

As reported by the employee, Wendy consumed multiple alcoholic beverages and remained visibly intoxicated for quite a while.
It is said that the supervisors found out about her intoxicated incident, which left them dismayed because she had previously struggled with alcohol problems.
In reaction to Wendy’s intoxicated behavior during lunchtime, it is said that she was moved to a different room on the fifth floor of the memory unit in the building.
Since several residents at that location have dementia and related memory problems, they can’t operate the elevator independently.
At the new spot, it seems that Wendy isn’t allowed to head to the restaurant for drinks; however, it’s ambiguous whether she must stay on the floor entirely or if she can step out when accompanied by someone overseeing her.
Yet, an issue occurred during the relocation process since the assigned memory unit had no vacant rooms available. Consequently, Wendy found herself temporarily occupying her third-floor room, with staff members stationed at the door to ensure she didn’t leave.
Based on an inside source, it seems that workers at the facility deceived the talk show host by claiming the restaurant was undergoing renovations when in reality, it appeared to be operational throughout.
In the following days, it’s said that a room became available on the fifth floor, and she was subsequently relocated there. Since then, she has resided on that floor.

It’s troubling to learn that Wendy has been confined and allegedly misled, especially since she insists that her memory is intact.
‘Wendy doesn’t have good and bad days. She’s the same all the time,’ they claimed to TMZ.
‘You can tell her something today and two weeks later she’ll remember it. Her memory is fine.’
According to TMZ reports, Wendy submitted a sworn statement in February asking the judge handling her guardianship case to terminate the agreement.
According to the legal agreement, it appears that Williams declared she has regained the ability to manage herself independently and stated she no longer needs someone appointed as a guardian to supervise her.
She has a guardianship overseen by Sabrina Morrissey, which was instituted in 2022.
She’s not quite there yet, as she still needs to complete several more stages to terminate the guardianship. Ultimately, it’ll be up to her to convince the judge if she wants to regain her independence.
To clarify the matter, Williams intends to demonstrate that her initial diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia by doctors was incorrect, and she will proceed to provide evidence for this.
In her statement, she declared in her document that she did not have the neurological disorder. According to reports from TMZ, she is scheduled to visit a physician for a fresh examination, hoping it will support this claim.

Significantly, Frontotemporal Dementia is a persistent and advancing disorder. Consequently, Wendy Williams’ former show host is optimistically hoping that her observed enhancement in functioning may suggest she doesn’t have the condition.
Recently, Williams brought on a new legal representative to assist in terminating the guardianship, and this individual played a part in choosing the physician that Williams will now consult with.
As a passionate devotee, I’ve learned that my beloved figure’s legal team intends to submit an Urgent Petition Tomorrow following the test results. This action, if granted, would compel the Honorable Judge to consider terminating the guardianship immediately.
She’s optimistic the judge will side with her and conclude matters immediately, but if they refuse her petition and maintain the current guardianship arrangement, Williams plans to ask for a jury trial. This jury would decide whether she has the capacity to manage her own affairs, including self-care and financial management, without the need for a guardian.
Recently, Williams discussed the factors she thinks resulted in her being put under guardianship during a recent conversation with TMZ.
On the 2 Angry Men podcast, she disclosed that she intended to journey to Miami, a city where some of her relatives reside, to celebrate her father’s 94th birthday over the weekend.
This journey signifies that for the first time in months, she’ll have an opportunity to bond with her loved ones, and it will also serve as a meeting with her son, Kevin Hunter Jr.
Earlier on, it was disclosed that Williams’ guardianship ended due to suspicious activity in her account with Wells Fargo Bank. Large sums of money were withdrawn, suggesting they weren’t authorized by her.

She asserts that her son Kevin, along with some others, executed the withdrawals; however, it remains ambiguous whether she believes he collaborated with these individuals in an attempt to misappropriate her funds.
For his part, her son has denied any wrongdoing.
According to Williams in an interview recorded through her window for the publication’s upcoming documentary, Saving Wendy, she stated that her son had crossed his limits. He was using my funds improperly and didn’t inform me about it at all.
She mentioned that the supposed incident led to her bank freezing her account, thereby preventing any possible theft, however, this also meant she couldn’t access her own funds.
When asked about who was financially supporting her, Williams started to tear up and replied, ‘My son is truly an exceptional individual.’
‘But at this point, he is a horrible person to me,’ she continued.
Williams claimed that it was possible other individuals could have been interacting with her son, hanging out at her apartment in Miami.
In conversation, it was pointed out that Kevin appeared to be involved in a questionable deal. Initially, he claimed he had agreed to rent a boat for approximately $1,500, but later it was reported that the same boat was leased out for $130,000. According to Wells Fargo, this discrepancy was attributed to them, yet his mother found his excuse dubious.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, the judge overseeing Williams case said in September 2024 that, ‘While Mr. Hunter, [her son, Kevin] apologized for past mistakes and inappropriate behavior, the court is not convinced that he can keep her safe and wouldn’t willingly or unwittingly expose her to financial exploitation.’
Williams noted that she planned to see her son at her father’s birthday — assuming he showed up.
She mentioned that she would meet him at a specific spot or venue, without revealing too many details. As for their present status, she opted not to disclose further information on the subject.
