Weird West Studio Wolfeye Releases Screenshots of Mysterious New Game
As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I’ve had the pleasure (and occasional frustration) of experiencing countless worlds, narratives, and gameplay mechanics across various genres. When it comes to immersive sims that offer both chaos and rich consequences, my heart skips a beat, and WolfEye Studios’ latest offering seems to be ticking all the right boxes.
In a conversation with Eurogamer, Raphael Colantonio, the founder of Arkane Studios, discussed the forthcoming project from WolfEye Studios, and there are available previews in the form of images.
Colantonio referred to it as a “retro-style sci-fi role-playing game,” and just recently announced on Twitter that it is expected to appeal to enthusiasts of Dishonored and Prey.
Today, I’ve got some exciting news as a gamer! WolfEye Studio just dropped three tantalizing in-game snapshots, and they’ve hinted that the storyline is set in an alternate version of America during the 1900s. It’s a twist that sets it apart from Weird West, yet strangely reminiscent at the same time.
In this setting, you’ll find robots, a familiar yet dusty terrain, and a nearly humorous ambiance reminiscent of the Fallout series.
Speaking to Eurogamer, Colantonio said:
As a dedicated fan, if there were a spectrum connecting Fallout and Dishonored, I’d place Prey squarely in the middle. It leans more towards an RPG experience than Dishonored, and this upcoming game seems to be edging even closer to the immersive, open-world style that Fallout is known for.
If you enjoy playing games that offer an immersive experience, allowing for a bit of disorderly fun while delivering profound results, then this game seems tailor-made for you.
As a long-time fan of role-playing games (RPGs), I have played countless titles throughout my gaming journey, but there’s something truly special about those that react intelligently when you land a critical hit in their most vulnerable spot. Games from Obsidian Entertainment, such as Pillars of Eternity and The Outer Worlds, excel at this particular aspect, delivering an immersive experience that I find myself drawn to time and again. In this game we’re currently developing, our aim is to capture the essence of what makes those Obsidian games so captivating – creating a world where every choice matters and every action has consequences. This is the kind of RPG I live for, and I can’t wait to share it with fellow fans of the genre.
The as-yet-unnamed intriguing game is progressing towards full production at the moment, with WolfEye actively looking for a publishing collaborator. Its release date remains uncertain for now.
