Weezer’s Scott Shriner Rocks Coachella Days After Wife’s Shocking Shooting Incident
On a heart-pounding Saturday, I found myself back onstage, just four days removed from an unimaginable ordeal – my beloved wife had been targeted by the authorities in a harrowing incident that left her wounded and facing attempted murder charges. Yet, through it all, the power of music remained my solace, and I couldn’t help but answer its irresistible call once again.
In a casual, straightforward manner: Despite the recent tragic shooting incident, the iconic ’90s rocker, aged 59, and his band chose not to comment on it as they captivated audiences at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California.
In 2001, Weezer, the band that Scott Shriner became a part of, was added to the lineup for the initial weekend of Coachella at the last minute, with the announcement coming right before the unfortunate incident involving shooting.
Jillian Lauren Shriner, author and wife of Shriner, aged 51, sustained a shoulder injury outside their residence in Eagle Rock, northeastern Los Angeles, on a Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred when a police officer fired a shot that struck her shoulder.
In her neighborhood, she was apparently caught up in a police search operation and brandished a firearm at law enforcement officials from her front garden, leading them to shoot.
According to the Los Angeles Times, paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department transported Jillian, who has recently disclosed that she’s fighting cancer, to a local hospital under suspicion of trying to commit murder.

Regardless of the occurrence, Shriner concentrated on his music during Weezer’s Saturday performance, delivering beloved tracks to the audience.
Or simply:
Shriner played fan favorites at Weezer’s Saturday show, focusing on his music despite any distractions.
Some of the hits they played included My Name Is Jonas, Hash Pipe and Pork and Beans.
Scott was captured performing enthusiastically alongside bandmates Rivers Cuomo, Brian Bell, and Patrick Wilson.
Scott sported a short sleeve light yellow button-up shirt with light jeans.
He played his guitar with a cheetah-print strap.
Weezer formed in Los Angeles, California in 1992.
Over the course of their career, Weezer has produced several notable songs such as Buddy Holly from 1994, Say It Ain’t So from 1995, Island in the Sun from 2001, and Undone – The Sweater Song also released in 1994.
After Shriner assured everyone that his wife was safe following the shooting, he also mentioned their upcoming performance at Coachella with his band.
On Thursday, standing outside their Los Angeles residence, Shriner answered a New York Post reporter’s inquiry: “She’s fine, I appreciate your concern,” he responded. However, he chose not to disclose any additional information regarding his spouse.
‘See you at Coachella,’ he added, in a plug for the Weezer gig.

paramedics transported Jillian to a hospital due to injuries that weren’t immediately dangerous, as reported by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
The tragic events transpired as a man, who had been involved in a three-vehicle accident on the 134 Freeway at approximately 3pm, moved onto his neighbor’s land following the incident, causing further distress.
He left the area along with two other male suspects, then evaded police by removing his clothes to just his underwear and jumping into someone’s swimming pool, pretending to water plants, in an unusual effort to seem like a part of the local community.
Later on, Jillian stepped out from her house carrying a firearm; however, it’s uncertain if she discharged the weapon at any point.
Police claim that they repeatedly instructed her to relinquish the gun, yet she persisted in defying their orders and aimed it at them instead. Subsequently, she was hit in the shoulder by shots fired from the police’s weapons.
Jillian quickly darted back into her home and returned shortly afterwards, accompanied by her babysitter. They were spotted with their hands up, complying with police instructions who directed them to walk down the driveway. There, they were peacefully apprehended without any disturbance.
At that moment, it’s said that Jillian claimed she was just protecting her house from a suspected intruder who was running around the neighborhood, as reported by CBS News. The individual was subsequently apprehended as well.

Medical personnel checked her over, identifying a non-critical gunshot injury, after the sequence of unfortunate incidents.
There’s some uncertainty about whether Shriner had any connection with the startling event that occurred before his performance at Coachella.
During this time, officers from the California Highway Patrol apprehended the driver involved in the hit-and-run accident, issued a citation, and let them go.
The police confiscated a nine-millimeter handgun from Jillian’s house during their investigation following the events that transpired in Southern California.
In a three-car collision, a woman who was present sustained moderately severe injuries and was transported to the hospital, as authorities reported after the three men suspected of being involved in the accident fled the scene.
Officers added that Jillian had nothing to do with the initial hit-and-run.
Jillian was later booked and released after posting $1 million bond, LA County jail records showed.
It’s unclear if she’s attended a court hearing yet, nor is it certain that she currently has legal representation.
Meanwhile, the remaining two suspects who fled the multi-car crash remain at large.
Dailymail.com has reached out to the LAPD for additional comment.
Jillian revealed that she is battling cancer only weeks before the incident.

Last month, in March, she posted on her primary Instagram account to disclose that she’s been diagnosed with cancer and is currently receiving treatment for it.
She posted a picture of herself, smiling from a hospital bed, giving a thumbs-up to the camera.
Jillian did not disclose the kind of cancer she has.
