It’s heartwarming to read about Matt Doran’s journey and the profound impact he’s made in his career as a journalist. His openness about his personal struggles with depression, especially in the public eye, is commendable and serves as an inspiration for many who may be going through similar challenges.

During their morning broadcast last month, Weekend Sunrise co-host Matt Doran took many viewers by surprise when he unexpectedly announced his departure from the breakfast program.

On a Sunday, he concluded his last day at the Channel Seven studios in Sydney, and was spotted departing from work with a luggage case.

41-year-old breakfast host got a reassuring hug from his wife Kendall Bora, who was standing by outside.

Matt appeared relaxed and in very good spirits, smiling as he made his way into Kendall’s arms.

He opted for a casually dapper ensemble including a deep green shirt and dark blue trousers.

The television personality finished the look with a pair of brown leather boots.

He loaded his large black suitcase into the waiting car, before leaving the area with his wife.

It comes after Doran called time on his five years at Weekend Sunrise.

He made the emotional announcement live on air at the end of the show late last month.

The Seven star, who recently opened up about his struggles with depression on The Morning Show.

He will be taking time to focus on family and to pursue other opportunities.

‘Before we go today, a bit of breaking news from the Doran household’ the host began.

He shared that he has made a decision, one that involves his wife Kendall and their cherished pet Murphy – and it’s arrived following five years at Weekend Sunrise: he will be wrapping up there by the end of this year, as he expressed.

I’ve given this a great deal of thought as it truly feels like an exceptional opportunity, almost heaven-sent. However, after careful consideration and timing, we believe it’s the perfect moment for our small family to make this move.

Though I may seem distant from Monique at the moment, avoiding eye contact due to my feelings of sadness, I find myself in a profound state of appreciation – a space filled with laughter, wisdom gained, and shared tears.

I firmly believe that having the responsibility to share the deepest, most private tales of individuals is among the most honored roles on Earth.

Matt will present his final episode of Weekend Sunrise on Sunday, December 8, alongside Monique.

During the morning broadcast, the talk show host became emotional as he discussed his deep bond with his most trusted coworker, causing him to shed tears.

Mate, you’re more than just a work companion – you’re my closest friend here, and I’m really going to feel your absence. Fancy a friendly farewell embrace?” He expressed.

In September, as Matt made an appearance on the Morning Sunrise show to promote his new book, “Mental State,” which discusses Australia’s mental health care system, he courageously shared his personal battles with depression.

Matt queried Dr. Cross, “Are we improving, in your opinion, at raising our hand and confessing, ‘I struggle with anxiety’?

Over the past few years, I’ve faced significant struggles with depression as well, and it seems many others might be dealing with similar issues. However, it appears there is a hesitation among people to openly discuss this matter.

Dr. Cross expressed his admiration by saying, “What a fascinating point… The more we discuss it, the clearer it becomes,” in response to Matt’s courageous sharing of his depression struggle on television.

Over the past few years, Matt’s behavior has raised some questions due to him being absent from work on two different instances without an obvious explanation.

In June, he failed to arrive to the Seven studios for work on Weekend Sunrise.

On Saturday, June 8, Chris Reason took over hosting duties for the breakfast show, with Monique Wright, as he had previously been replaced by a news reporter and then returned.

A network spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia at the time that Matt was ‘on leave’.

A major Channel Seven star has been tipped to replace Doran, after his shock on-air resignation.

It appears that David Woiwod, our U.S. correspondent stationed in Los Angeles, could take on the co-host position alongside Monique Wright, based on reports from news.com.au.

The Melbourne-born reporter has worked at Channel Seven for eight years and was a reporter on Sunrise from 2016 to 2020.

He moved to Los Angeles in July 2020 to become the network’s US correspondent and was promoted to US Bureau Chief in April last year.

Woiwod has developed a reputation for his engaging personality and cheeky banter when reporting.

2020 found me blushing publicly on Sunrise, after I flubbed the pronunciation of the renowned US actress Ellen DeGeneres, calling her ‘Allan’ instead. Oops!
