Wednesday star lands role in new “love triangle” dark comedy
Wednesday star Joy Sunday has landed a role in a new dark comedy centred around a love triangle.
According to Variety, the actor known for portraying Bianca Barclay in the Addams Family series as well as being seen in Dear White People, is set to take on a role in the upcoming HBO limited series titled DTF. St Louis.
Among the two fresh additions to the cast are Chris Perfetti from Abbott Elementary, and another yet-unnamed individual. They join an already confirmed lineup that includes Jason Bateman, Linda Cardellini, David Harbour, and Richard Jenkins. The pair will portray characters named Jodie and Tiger Tiger in this production.
This show is titled as a “limited series,” exploring a complex romantic entanglement among three mature individuals grappling with midlife ennui. Regrettably, this situation escalates to the point where one character meets an untimely demise.
The number of episodes for the upcoming series has been set at seven, and it’s now moving forward in the early stages of production. At this time, further details are being tightly held.
In December, filming for the second season of Wednesday concluded, and it’s now preparing to introduce a fresh batch of actors to its cast. This group includes Billie Piper from Scoop, Joanna Lumley from Fool Me Once, Steve Buscemi known for Boardwalk Empire, and Thandiwe Newton, who starred in Westworld.
Additionally featured in this are Heather Matarazzo from “Scream”, Joonas Suotamo known for “Star Wars”, Haley Joel Osment hailing from “Kingdom Hearts”, Noah Taylor recognized from “Law & Order”, Evie Templeton famous for “Return to Silent Hill”, Owen Painter appearing in “The Handmaid’s Tale”, and the real Lady Gaga.
This time, Jenna Ortega returns to the spotlight not just as the main actor, but also as a producer – a role she found immensely satisfying.
She commented, “It was absolutely extraordinary,” she said. “I’ve never experienced something quite like this on a TV production before, and we discussed it during our first season. It’s truly rewarding to be involved in these discussions because I adore my work and my role, but it allows me to participate in the behind-the-scenes aspects as well.
She playfully remarked, “I get to choose aspects like the shade of someone’s color, where their brain scenes appear on the ground, or how prosthetics are designed.” This is thrilling and enjoyable for me. In truth, it’s quite educational too. I’m absorbing a lot.
Wednesday streams on Netflix, with season 2 on the way.
