Wednesday star joins Jenna Ortega in new movie
As a gamer who has lived through the golden age of Tim Burton’s Addams Family and the modern reboot era, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the upcoming movie “The Gallerist” starring Jenna Ortega, Natalie Portman, and the fabulous Catherine Zeta-Jones! With a powerhouse cast like this, it’s no wonder my excitement is bubbling over like a cauldron of potion brewing in Morticia’s greenhouse.
Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday co-star will be joining her in a new movie.
Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, known for her portrayal of Morticia Addams, Ortega’s on-screen mother in the popular Netflix series, has been cast in “The Gallerist” alongside previously announced actors Ortega and Natalie Portman (as reported by Deadline).
Catherine Zeta-Jones is among the six prominent actors joining the film cast, including Da’Vine Joy Randolph from The Holdovers, Zach Galifianakis known for Only Murders in the Building, Sterling K Brown famous for his roles in This Is Us and American Fiction.
Additionally, it’s been revealed that Daniel Brühl and acclaimed pop artist Charli XCX will be joining the ensemble cast. Filming is anticipated to commence towards the end of this year.
From what I’ve gathered as a gaming enthusiast, not much has been disclosed about the film beyond the initial announcement and a tantalizing hint at the storyline.
As reported by Deadline, the forthcoming movie revolves around a gallery owner in dire straits, who devises a plot to peddle a corpse at Art Basel Miami.
The film titled “The Gallerist” is set to be helmed by Cathy Yan, famous for her work on “Birds of Prey“. She will collaborate with James Pedersen in scripting the feature. Notably, Portman will not only produce but also grace the screen as the lead actress in this upcoming movie.
Ortega and Zeta-Jones have just wrapped up shooting the second season of Wednesday, scheduled for release around 2025.
Netflix recently released a backstage video showing the cast at work during late September, offering fans an early sneak peek of Ortega portraying the main character for the upcoming second season.
The short video concludes with her voiceover: “If we showed you any more, your eyes would bleed… and I’m not that generous.”
As a gamer, I’m thrilled to share that Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams) and Emma Myers, who starred in A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder as Enid Sinclair, will once again grace our screens for season 2. On the other hand, Billie Piper from Scoop, Joanna Lumley from Fool Me Once, Steve Buscemi known for his role in Boardwalk Empire, and Thandiwe Newton from Westworld have all hopped on board to join us as newcomers to the cast!
There is no release date for The Gallerist.
Wednesday season 1 is available to stream now on Netflix. Season 2 is expected in 2025.
