Wednesday gives behind-the-scenes glimpse at "bigger and more twisted" season 2

As a seasoned gamer and Netflix enthusiast who’s seen their fair share of binge-worthy shows, I must say that the anticipation for Wednesday Season 2 has been nothing short of spine-tingling. The first season was an absolute gem, and the record-breaking viewership is a testament to its appeal.

It’s now been some time since Netflix released “Wednesday,” their Tim Burton-directed spinoff of “The Addams Family” starring Jenna Ortega as the teenage Wednesday Addams. Despite the passing of time, the excitement surrounding the show has not entirely dissipated. When it initially aired in 2022, the first season surpassed all expectations, breaking the viewership record set by “Stranger Things” season 4 and establishing itself as one of Netflix’s most-watched series ever. The streaming service promptly renewed it for a second season, but due to last year’s Hollywood strikes, production has been moving slowly.

Progress is proceeding swiftly! Just last week was Geeked Week, where Netflix unveiled numerous previews and announcements for their most popular shows. Among them is “Wednesday,” which recently released a sneak peek video offering fans a glimpse into season 2’s production process. Take a look:

Wednesday season 2 first look

In the second season of “Wednesday,” our protagonist Wednesday will revisit Nevermore Academy, the eerie boarding school where she attempted to steer clear of friendships in the initial season. However, her plans backfired as some of her classmates managed to win a place in her heart despite her best efforts. This trailer showcases several characters from the series, including Wednesday (played by Jenna Ortega), Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzman as Gomez Addams, Emma Mysers as Enid Sinclair, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, and Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay. Additionally, Tim Burton is back at the helm, with stunning panoramic shots of the school and its surroundings to build anticipation.

Alongside the actors mentioned earlier, season 2 of “Wednesday” will also include Moosa Mostafa playing Eugene, Georgie Farmer portraying Ajax, Victor Dorobantu taking on the role of Thing, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Deputy Ritchie Santiago, Jamie McShane depicting Sheriff Donovan Galpin, and Fred Armisen in the part of Uncle Fester.

Currently, Burton and Ortega are diligently working on the second season of “Wednesday”, but they’ve also teamed up for a movie titled “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice“, a sequel to the classic 1988 horror-comedy film. Similar to “Wednesday”, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice ” has been a massive success, breaking records, such as earning the highest opening day box office earnings of any movie in Burton’s career. With their creative styles complementing each other beautifully, Ortega and Burton are hoping that this collaboration is just the start of many more projects together.

Currently, we’ve got a little more time on our hands before season 2 of Wednesday drops. The expected release date is around 2025.
