Wednesday confirms season 2 has wrapped with new look at Jenna Ortega’s character
As a seasoned gamer who’s seen his fair share of twists and turns in the realm of Netflix productions, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and anticipation as Wednesday season two officially wraps filming. With Jenna Ortega reprising her role as the titular character and Catherine Zeta-Jones joining Morticia Addams, this season promises to be bigger, more twisted, and downright spooktacular!
Wednesday season two has officially wrapped filming.
Today, December 4th, Netflix officially confirmed the news, offering a sneak peek of Jenna Ortega returning to her role as the eerie teenager. She even shared this exciting update with her fans.
“Jenna Ortega closes the coffin on Wednesday season 2. Coming 2025,” the post was captioned.
In September, a sneak peek video for the forthcoming season became available, featuring Ortega’s onscreen partner, Catherine Zeta-Jones (as Morticia Addams), hinting: “This season will be larger and more intricately tangled than anything you could possibly conceive.
On Tuesday, the showrunners and executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar revealed to Netflix’s Tudum that the upcoming second season will delve deeper into the history of the Addams Family. The pair shared their enthusiasm for presenting a diverse array of fascinating new characters in the series.
Apart from bringing back stars like Ortega and Zeta-Jones, the second season of Wednesday will also introduce several fresh faces to the cast. These include Billie Piper from Scoop, who will play a new character named Capri. Joanna Lumley, known for her role in Fool Me Once, will join as Grandmama. Steve Buscemi, best recognized from Boardwalk Empire, will take on the role of Barry Dort, while Thandiwe Newton, a star from Westworld, is set to play Dr Fairburn.
On Wednesday, we welcome Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, and Joonas Suotamo from the Star Wars sequels as our new additions for season 2.
It’s been confirmed that Lady Gaga will be part of the cast for season two, but specifics about her character are currently being withheld.
Previously, Ortega has suggested that the tone of Wednesday’s second season could be darker than the first, describing it as having a touch of horror while still being suitable for all ages.
“Not to say that suddenly we’re the goriest show of all time,” she added.
Wednesday season 1 is streaming on Netflix. Season 2 will be released in 2025.
