We The Kings reimagines "Go the Distance" from Disney's animated classic Hercules

As a child of the 90s and early 2000s, I’ve grown up with the magical tunes of Disney, and their latest offering, “A Whole New Sound,” has been nothing short of a dream come true for me! The recent rendition of “Go the Distance” by We The Kings is an absolute gem. It’s like they’ve taken my childhood memories and given them a fresh, vibrant coat of paint with their unique style.

This week, Disney’s “A Whole New Sound” has been consistently releasing hit songs in anticipation of its launch. One such tune is a fresh take on “Go the Distance,” originally from the animated film “Hercules“, by the band We The Kings.

In the first decade of this millennium, I found myself captivated by We The Kings, a rock band that skyrocketed to fame in 2007 with their self-titled album, which included the platinum hit “Check Yes Juliet.” Now, they’re venturing into adapting one of Disney’s most inspiring songs.

I was thrilled to listen to We The Kings’ rendition of a beloved Disney song from their collection, and I must say they did an exceptional job. Travis Clark’s vocal delivery of the lyrics brings about a cozy, comforting feeling in me.

In simpler terms, “We The Kings’ rendition of ‘Go The Distance’ is one out of four tracks that have been made available so far from the album “A Whole New Sound“, which features classic Disney tunes reinterpreted by popular pop-punk, alternative rock, and pop musicians.

To date, we’ve come across renditions by New Found Glory (of “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid), Simple Plan (covering “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from The Lion King), and Magnolia Park (taking on “I2” from A Goofy Movie)).

In truth, what we’ve shared so far is merely a small glimpse. We haven’t had the pleasure of listening to covers like Plain White T’s doing “Surface Pressure” from Encanto, Bowling For Soup with “Friend Like Me” from Aladdin, or Yellowcard on “A Whole New World” from Aladdin, and there are many more still to come.

On September 6th, we’ll officially unveil an entirely new sound with the full album release, followed by a vinyl drop on October 4th. With just a few days left until the album hits stores, this might be the final sneak peek track you’ll get. I can already picture it being part of my Disney trip playlist!
