We Talked To People Coming Out Of An IMAX Screening About What They Loved, And There Were Some Recurring Themes

Each theater visit offers a unique experience nowadays. Instead of hopping from one multiplex to another, you might notice considerable differences even within the same location. Today, audiences have more choices than ever, ranging from standard screenings to premium formats and numerous other options. IMAX is perhaps the most recognized premium format option; hence, we teamed up with AMC Theatres, the industry frontrunner, to question moviegoers exiting a screening about why they opted for an upgrade on their tickets.

In our conversation, we connected with over twenty individuals, and while every person had unique motives for favoring IMAX, there was a common thread that emerged: it’s superior. Although this might seem broad, the individuals we spoke to were quite particular about what they consider superior. Some discussed the sound quality, some focused on the vibrant colors, some appreciated the clarity of the image, and some pointed out how all these elements combined create a more immersive experience. Many individuals we spoke with emphasized the engaging nature of the cinematic experience, as they aim to become fully engrossed in the film’s narrative. This immersion is often more effortless at a movie theater than at home, and it becomes even simpler when watching in IMAX. The all-encompassing IMAX viewing experience – from the crisp visuals to the powerful sound – transports you into the movie itself. Moreover, there’s an undeniable sense of unity with the audience around you, regardless of personal differences. This shared experience is what truly makes a trip to the IMAX stand out.

Regardless of genre, IMAX excels. We spoke to a woman who adores IMAX, no matter if it’s action, romance, mystery, or comedy movies she’s watching. What makes IMAX exceptional isn’t just about amplifying volume or intensity, but rather improving each film in the way that best suits its unique qualities.
