We need to see Jade and Pete return in Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 3

As a gamer who’s spent countless hours dissecting narratives and empathizing with characters from various walks of life, I must say that the Gold Star storyline in Criminal Minds: Evolution has been nothing short of intriguing. It’s not every day you come across characters whose motivations aren’t purely malicious but rather a product of their past traumas and manipulation.

In essence, “Criminal Minds” has consistently provided us with an understanding of the killers’ minds, not portraying them solely as villains. The latest series, “Criminal Minds: Evolution,” delves even deeper, particularly in the Gold Star narrative.

In their discovery of how extensively the criminals were manipulated during their childhood years, the BAU team understood that they had to approach their strategies somewhat differently. Towards the end of the second season, Prentiss emphasized that while Jade and Pete were indeed killers, they should also be recognized as victims.

Let’s increase the screen time for Jade and Pete in Season 3 of “Criminal Minds: Evolution”. Here are some options:

Jade and Pete thought they were doing the right thing in Criminal Minds: Evolution

Many serial killers commit their crimes due to deeply personal reasons. These individuals, often referred to as “UnSubs”, have historically lacked the necessary mental health support in their formative years or have endured abuse. A single event can serve as a catalyst, prompting them to act, and they tend to exhibit distinct behavioral patterns.

Gold Star members deviated somewhat from expectations. Originating from a program designed to keep them non-violent, they unfortunately took lives, but not out of malice. They weren’t educators or intent on teaching lessons. Instead, they were coerced into believing their actions were for the sake of protecting others. Fundamentally, these individuals, including Jade, Pete, and Damien, shared a deep desire to safeguard the young ones.

After understanding they’d been deceived, Jade and Pete underwent a transformation. They recognized that their actions had unintentionally hurt others, and the wrongness of their deeds became evident. The remorse was palpable as they acknowledged their mistakes.

As a gamer, I’m curious about how their choices are unfolding, given the repercussions they’ve brought upon themselves. Pete, without hesitation, was ready to accept his fate and face the consequences head-on. All he yearned for was to make it through this ordeal. There came a moment when Jade seemed on the verge of giving up, but what she truly desired was to be heard. She’d had enough of being overlooked due to people labeling her as mad.

In these characters, we noticed flashes of genuine human traits, a rarity on the show “Criminal Minds.” The third season might introduce them as witnesses to delve deeper into Gold Star’s other aspects, or Jade could disclose further details about the network that Damien and Voit were part of, aiding in the pursuit of justice against Voit. Given Pete’s newfound knowledge that Voit was responsible for his brother’s death, he may prove particularly useful.

Could Emily Prentiss testify for them in Criminal Minds?

It would be great to see a trial take place this season. What I would love to see is Emily Prentiss step up to testify on their behalf. Not to allow them to get away with what they did, but to make sure they’re placed in the right facility to get help.

As a former criminal psychologist who has worked with countless individuals entangled in the dark corners of humanity, I firmly believe that people, even those labeled as “murderers,” are far more complex than their crimes suggest. They are often victims themselves, trapped in a cycle of trauma and despair that leads them to commit heinous acts.

They possess a wealth of data. Now would be an opportune moment to leverage this resource, not just for utilization, but also to rectify past injustices they’ve suffered.
