We finally know when the next Final Destination movie will be released
As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of horror movie marathons under my belt, I can confidently say that the news about “Final Destination: Bloodlines” has sent a shiver down my spine! It’s been 14 long years since we had a fresh dose of this nail-biting franchise. Remembering the chilling suspense of “Final Destination 5”, I can only imagine what horrors await us in the sixth installment, especially with the intriguing title “Bloodlines”.
At long last, “Final Destination: Bloodlines” has set its release date! Warner Bros. has scheduled the movie to hit the big screen on May 16, 2025, following numerous delays throughout the development phase. With the sixth installment of the series now slated for a theater debut, it marks 14 years since we last witnessed a “Final Destination” film.
The fifth installment of the “Final Destination” series, titled “Final Destination 5“, came out in August 2011. Many fans felt that this movie surpassed the fourth one and considered it as one of the best in the series. Soon after its release, preparations for a sixth film began, but the progress stalled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This left Warner Bros. uncertain about the future of the franchise. At one stage, they even planned to distribute it through their Max streaming platform.
I can hardly contain my excitement! After more than a decade, we gamers are finally getting another installment of our beloved New Line Cinema film series in May 2025. The movie’s subtitle, “Bloodlines,” has got everyone speculating that the sixth film might delve into the descendants of our favorite characters. Could the curse have a genetic twist now? I can hardly wait to uncover more secrets!
Bloodlines.
The movie is set to be helmed by Adam B. Stein and Zach Lipovsky, with a script penned by Guy Busick from “Scream VI” and Lori Evans Taylor. The story originates from Jon Watts, who worked on “Spider-Man: Homecoming”. The producers include Jon Watts, Dianne McGunigle, Craig Perry, and Sheila Hanahan Taylor.
The “Final Destination” movie series kicked off in 2000, featuring James Wong as director and stars like Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Tony Todd, and Kerr Smith. Across all five films, the storylines share a common thread. Each film opens with a character experiencing a premonition about a devastating event; in the first movie, it’s Alex (played by Sawa) who predicts the plane he and his classmates have just boarded will crash.
In a state of panic, Alex convinces several friends to abandon the plane before it takes flight. However, none of them believe him, and tragically, many lives are lost as the plane plummets to the ground, fulfilling the prophetic vision that Alex had experienced. The remainder of the film series follows a recurring pattern: the survivors meet their demise one by one at the hands of an unseen force, due to their perceived transgression against Death. Each movie adheres to this consistent narrative structure.
Next year, it’s also expected that New Line Cinema will be releasing the horror movies “Companion” and “The Conjuring: Last Rites.
