After reports surfaced that a certain company is likely to buy Warner Bros. Pictures, a very passionate and often vocal group of fans are celebrating. They’re hoping this new ownership, specifically if it’s Netflix, will lead to the return of director Zack Snyder to continue his vision for the DC Universe, as evidenced by the trending hashtags #restorethesnyderverse and #SellSnyderVerseToNetflix.
Fans are celebrating the news that the ‘SnyderVerse’ might be going to Netflix, using hashtags like #SellSnyderVerseToNetflix and #SellZSJLtoNetflix. Some are even bringing up an old post from a DC Studios co-chief and the director of the upcoming Superman movie, where he called the idea of Netflix picking up the SnyderVerse one of the “wackiest” things he’d ever seen. One excited fan responded to that post, confirming Netflix’s previous interest.
Look, even if Netflix did manage to acquire Warner Bros., it wouldn’t automatically bring back Zack Snyder’s vision for the DC universe. James Gunn and Peter Safran are already well into building their own DCU, and they’ve got a bunch of cool projects lined up – a Superman sequel, a Supergirl film, even a Clayface movie – all scheduled to come out soon. So, a SnyderVerse revival seems pretty unlikely at this point.
Considering that several of Zack Snyder’s projects with Netflix haven’t succeeded – some have even been canceled – it seems unlikely Netflix would invest the time and money needed to reunite Snyder, Henry Cavill, and Ben Affleck for future films. Even if Netflix were willing, those actors are all currently busy with other commitments and may not be interested in returning.
Would Netflix Really Restore the SnyderVerse?

Warner Bros. Pictures
Despite a lack of evidence, fans of director Zack Snyder are convinced that his vision for the DC superhero universe will be revived. One fan tweeted, “#SellZSJLtoNetflix #SellSnyderVerseToNetflix @netflix It’s no longer a question of if, but when! You’ll see!” This illustrates the often overly-assertive and even hostile tone that has characterized much of the online discussion surrounding this topic.
Fans are enthusiastically calling for Netflix to acquire the SnyderVerse and Zack Snyder’s Justice League sequels. Many are hoping to see the completed story arc, including Justice League 2 and 3, and are expressing their support with messages like “Justice is Rising!” and “Netflix just won!”
The SnyderVerse started in 2013 with the movie Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill as Superman. Although Man of Steel didn’t spark as much disagreement among fans as later films, it hinted at the direction the series would take, receiving scores of 57% from critics and 75% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.
Honestly, things really started to split fans after Batman v Superman in 2016. While a few films like Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League cut – the one he actually wanted to make – did pretty well, most of the movies just didn’t hit the mark with critics or at the box office. That ultimately meant Snyder’s bigger plans were canceled. The whole DCEU wrapped up with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom in 2023, and sadly, it continued the pattern – critics weren’t impressed, giving it only a 33% rating, though audiences seemed to enjoy it a bit more with a 79% score.
