We all needed disgraced Harvey Weinstein, says Amanda Seyfried – as she admits stars ignored rumours because of his influence
Amanda Seyfried shared insights on why some celebrities dismissed rumors surrounding the scandal involving Harvey Weinstein, due to his powerful position.
The actress from Mamma Mia! confessed that everyone found him indispensable and shared an account of how she hugged Weinstein upon learning he financed one of her independent movies.
In an interview for Variety magazine, she reminisced about extending an invitation to the incarcerated film producer to watch a 2013 showing of Lovelace with her co-star Adam Brody.
‘He came and was like, ‘I bought it’. I gave him the biggest hug.’
As one who eagerly supported his projects, I found myself in a photo with Weinstein, and I stated, “Each of us relied on his interest in our endeavor. At that time, everyone was still denying the truth about him, although it was widely known among many. I had picked up some whispers about his behavior.
Weinstein, 73, is serving 23 years for rape, and is on trial over more allegations.
16 years ago, Seyfried and Brody first crossed paths on the set of the 2009 horror movie “Jennifer’s Body”. Now, they’re both busy with successful television shows – for her, it’s “Long Bright River”, and for him, it’s “Nobody Wants This”.
In their conversation, the seasoned Hollywood figure mentioned an occasion when they experimented with a substance, accompanied by Brody.

To initiate the discussion, Seyfried inquired, “Remember when we played Guitar Hero together on the set of Jennifer’s Body?
Brody, 45, replied: ‘No. But I think you had a rental car, and we drove to a beach.’
In response to Seyfried’s statement, “Yep. We got high,” Adam said, “To be honest, I can’t recall that incident. I was so high at the time, I didn’t remember it.
Later on, Seyfried expressed: ‘I’m not sure if I could use marijuana again. It seems like I might be sensitive to it. I had some unpleasant encounters. However, I recall it being the most tranquil. That was likely my last time. There’s a chance we may have smoked together at your house, which I now own.’
Amanda then moved on to another topic.
She said that Adam ‘has an effect on people’ and is doing so well these days with his hit show.
He jumped in with the joke, ‘I don’t think it’s pot-related.’
Seyfried shared, ‘It’s just that you make people feel at ease.’

Amanda displayed an unexpected response upon being questioned by Adam regarding her 2004 film, “Mean Girls,” co-starring Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams.
She was only 17-years-old when she made the film and had to have her mother live with her off set.
The star said she really loves ‘seeing my face on people’s T-shirts.’
Reflecting on that encounter, I can’t help but feel a pang of discontent: I’ve yet to receive my due from Paramount regarding the use of my likeness.
‘Every store sells Mean Girls T-shirts with our faces. Don’t I [get something from that]?
‘Even the girl at TSA tells me it’s her favorite movie.’
Suddenly, there was an unexpected shift in the conversation topic: “Wow, do you recall that time we worked on Lovelace, and I performed an act of intimacy?

2013’s film titled “Lovelace” serves as a biography, focusing on the life of Linda Lovelace, famously known for her role in the groundbreaking 1972 movie “Deep Throat.
Adam, known for portraying Harry Reems in the film, commented, “Reflecting on it now, I’d describe it as an emblematic oral sex scene – the ‘Deep Throat,’ so to speak. What are your thoughts about that movie today?
She mentioned that she had an outstanding time working on that movie, and she was pleased because it showcased her acting skills effectively.
She stated that she valued transforming others’ perception of her in the business more than worrying about the reception itself. She finds it effortless for people to categorize or limit one, which she referred to as getting ‘pigeonholed’.
