Wayne Rooney set to be at centre of a four-way bidding war over new documentary as new details emerge
As a lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I must say that it seems like the Rooneys are truly making a name for themselves in the world of entertainment. While Coleen is currently reigning supreme as Queen of the Jungle, her husband Wayne is not far behind, making waves in the television industry.
Although Colleen Rooney was recently suggested as the “Queen of the Jungle,” it appears that her husband, Wayne, is independently exploring opportunities within the realm of television.
The ex-Manchester United player, aged 39, might be in the middle of a competition among four parties for his upcoming documentary.
It appears that Disney+, Sky, Netflix, and Amazon are all said to be keen on acquiring the rights to the new documentary detailing his initial year as the manager of Plymouth Argyle.
As reported by sources close to The Mirror, the upcoming documentary will incorporate clips from home featuring Coleen, along with a comprehensive portrayal of Wayne’s professional life in a 360-degree perspective.
The documentary is being created by Lorton Entertainment, who currently hold an exclusive agreement with the Rooneys. Previously, they had produced a documentary about Coleen titled “The Real Wagatha Story,” which aired on Disney.
Besides creating it, the company was involved with a full-length film called “Rooney,” chronicling the life of the previous England team captain, which hit screens in the year 2022.
As reported by The Mirror, filming is currently underway, and a production team has been seen attending recent games such as Argyle’s 1-0 victory in the Championship against Portsmouth, as well as their 1-1 tie with Derby County.
In the reports, it’s indicated that both Wayne and his football club stand to receive substantial financial gains, as the streaming platforms are rumored to be planning on offering multi-million dollar contracts to secure the documentary.
According to one source, there’s an enormous excitement building about this project. It’s still in its infancy, but it promises to offer a unique glimpse into both Wayne’s professional life as a football manager and his personal life as a family man, demonstrating the harmony between these two aspects of his life.
They added: ‘Coleen may be in the jungle with all the cameras on her…but Wayne is just as in the spotlight too, and this project is set to be great news not only for the family coffers but also Plymouth Argyle who are partners in the vision.’
Previously, Wayne, who assumed control at Argyle in May, emphasized that the making of the documentary wouldn’t disrupt the regular operations of the club.
He said: ‘They are not around every minute of every day. There will be set days which we give them to film. It’s not going to be a massive difference for the players or for the staff to deal with. I think it will be good for the club.’
But he admitted ‘big brands’ were looking to take it without disclosing any more information.
This documentary traces a similar path as the earlier football club series, “Welcome to Wrexham,” which highlights the proprietors, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, on Disney+’s platform.
For three seasons, Netflix’s show “Sunderland ‘Til I Die” chronicled the ups and downs of the football team known as the Black Cats.
In recent years, documentaries delving into the inner workings of teams like Liverpool (in the Premier League), Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Arsenal have also seen the light of day.
After reports emerged about Coleen’s £1.5 million agreement for her time on I’m A Celebrity, it’s important to note that this sum is relatively modest compared to the substantial earnings she stands to receive later on.
According to sources close to The Mirror, she is expected to surpass her husband Wayne’s reported £80 million lifetime earnings significantly, as she has made substantial investments in a business that was recently valued at £350 million upon its listing on the Stock Exchange.
Colleen invested in purchasing all the shares she was able to, being an ambassador for the Liverpool-based sports nutrition company, Applied Nutrition.
Additionally, she has enrolled to debut a line of protein, collagen, and vitamin supplements for the company starting from January.
Prior to her flight to Australia, she was delighted to discover that her product line would be available at Holland & Barrett, and it was expected that other supermarkets would carry them as well.
