Wayne Lineker has announced he’s left the hospital after a difficult seven weeks. He was battling two serious cases of pneumonia during that time.
The 63-year-old British businessman was happy to leave Basildon & Thurrock University Hospital after a long stay over the holidays.
Wayne shared that recovering from the life-threatening infection required immense courage and effort. He explained that the infection can be fatal, especially for those with weakened immune systems.
Wayne looked healthy and energetic in a new photo, posing with his fists raised. He was wearing a comfortable orange velour tracksuit and sneakers.
He shared a photo with a message expressing his relief and joy at finally being recovered and discharged from the hospital after a difficult seven weeks.
‘It took all my courage and fight to get over this deadly infection… #pneumonia.’

Wayne’s daughter, Tia, left a heartwarming comment saying she admired his strength and looked forward to hugging him. Wayne simply replied, ‘Love you’.
Gary Lineker’s brother had a difficult Christmas, as he was hospitalized and recovering from an illness.
Despite being in the hospital, he remained positive and shared an encouraging update with his fans before being discharged.
The owner of O Beach club was hospitalized earlier this month with a second serious bout of pneumonia, just under a month after first becoming ill.
He spread Christmas cheer by sharing a photo on Instagram of himself with the nurses who cared for him, taken in the hospital hallway.
Wayne wore a red and white striped pyjama set and completed the look with a fluffy Santa hat.
He shared a sweet Christmas photo with the message: ‘Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas! Sending love from me and the nurses at the Bursted ward at Bassildon Hospital. We’re playing Christmas music and I’ve been able to video chat with my family too!’

The actor has recovered from pneumonia and is expected to be discharged on Boxing Day to finish his antibiotic treatment at home.
Wayne shared a video from his hospital bed on Wednesday, sporting a Christmas hat, to announce he’s being discharged! He’ll be able to go home after Boxing Day.
I’ve fully recovered from pneumonia! After what has been a really difficult six weeks, I’m going home on Boxing Day.
Well, Christmas is going to look a little different for me this year! I’m actually finishing up a course of antibiotics and will be spending Christmas Day in the hospital to get my final IV dose. But honestly? I’m feeling really positive and grateful – health is the greatest gift, right?
‘Thank you to all the incredible doctors and Nurses at Basildon hospital.’
The nightclub owner said he nearly died and had to have lung surgery to relieve severe pain.
Wayne had taken a turn for the worse while his son Sean was looking after him at home.
He wrote at the time: ‘PNEUMONIA UPDATE.
I was recently discharged from the hospital and sent home with antibiotics and other medication, but unfortunately, I had to be readmitted after just four days due to a serious second illness.

I needed another trip to the hospital by ambulance while being looked after at home, and thankfully my son, Sean, was there to help.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following Wayne’s journey, and he recently shared something really relatable. He mentioned that after making the amazing decision to get sober earlier this year and give up alcohol, his immune system took a bit of a hit. It’s not uncommon – your body definitely goes through changes when you make such a significant lifestyle shift, and sometimes that means a temporary dip in immunity. He’s navigating that now, and it’s a good reminder that wellness is a holistic process!
He explained that he still has pneumonia and doctors are trying to figure out why the antibiotics aren’t working as well as they should.
‘I’ve had countless scans and blood tests, with many results already back and more still to come.
It’s a relief to learn this probably isn’t a heart issue. It seems more connected to my immune system, which has been weaker since I gave up alcohol.
Changing my lifestyle so dramatically during rehab led to several infections, and I’m still dealing with the effects almost six months later. If doctors confirm this is the issue, I’ll need a powerful course of antibiotics and steroids delivered through an IV.
It seems I’ll be spending Christmas in the hospital, but I’ve made peace with it. I plan to stay until I’ve fully recovered and am able to return home.
‘Thank you all so much for the love, it truly means everything #pneumonia #beingpositive’.
