Wayne Lineker, 63, gives health update after he was readmitted into hospital following his second severe pneumonia attack

Hey everyone, just wanted to share a quick update on my health. I unfortunately had to go back into the hospital recently after a really nasty bout of pneumonia – it was actually my second time dealing with it! I’m getting the care I need and focusing on recovery, and I appreciate all the well wishes. It’s a reminder to really prioritize your health, you know?

The 63-year-old British businessman feared he’d be unable to return home for the holidays. However, he updated his followers on Wednesday, explaining that while his concerns were valid, he had some positive news to share.

Wayne shared a video from his hospital bed – sporting a Christmas hat! – to let his fans know he’s being discharged, but he’ll be staying until after Boxing Day.

I’ve fully recovered from pneumonia! After what has been a really difficult six weeks, I’m going home on Boxing Day.

I’m disappointed to say I’ll be spending Christmas Day in the hospital, as I still have two days left of my antibiotic treatment. Despite that, I’m still feeling positive.

‘Thank you to all the incredible doctors and Nurses at Basildon hospital.’

Wayne recently shared that he had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance after a second serious bout of pneumonia – just under a month after his initial illness.

The nightclub owner said he recently had a life-threatening experience and underwent lung surgery to relieve severe pain.

Wayne had taken a turn for the worse while his son Sean was looking after him at home.

He wrote at the time: ‘PNEUMONIA UPDATE.

Okay, so things took a bit of a downturn after my hospital stay. I was really hoping to get back on my feet, and I did manage four days at home with my antibiotics and meds, but then I had another really bad flare-up. It was incredibly frustrating, honestly, to feel like I was starting all over again so soon.

I needed another trip to the hospital by ambulance while being looked after at home by my son, Sean. Thankfully, he was there to help.

I’ve been following Wayne’s journey, and he recently shared that his immune system hasn’t been great since he got sober earlier this year. He mentioned it’s been a bit of a challenge after giving up alcohol, but he’s staying positive and focusing on his health.

He explained that he still has pneumonia, and doctors are trying to figure out why the antibiotics aren’t working as well as they should.

‘I’ve had countless scans and blood tests, with many results already back and more still to come.

It’s a relief to learn this doesn’t seem to be a heart problem. It’s probably related to my immune system, which has been weaker since I gave up alcohol.

Changing my lifestyle so much during rehab caused me to get sick several times, and I’m still dealing with it almost six months later. If doctors confirm this is the cause, I’ll need a powerful course of antibiotics and steroids delivered through an IV.

It seems I’ll be spending Christmas in the hospital, but I’m okay with that. I plan to stay until I’ve fully recovered and am able to return home.

‘Thank you all so much for the love, it truly means everything #pneumonia #beingpositive’.
