Waylay lights up VALORANT as its new Duelist Agent

Introducing Waylay, who will undoubtedly captivate everyone with her swift movements and brilliance, now making her debut in VALORANT as our latest Duelist Agent.

If you caught the Grand Final broadcast of VALORANT Masters Bangkok, you’re aware that a fresh character will be joining the FPS game. This new Agent in VALORANT is classified as a Duelist and is called Waylay. She’s essentially a space-consuming, light-carrying entity.

And we’ve got everything you need to know, from her abilities to when she releases.

Who is Waylay?

Because the Masters tournament takes place in Bangkok, Thailand, our latest team member is of Thai origin. She possesses unique abilities to morph into pure light itself, much like a prismatic radiant.

Her expansive skillset is designed to introduce an additional Duelist character similar to Jett or Raze within the game. The recent arrival of Waylay in VALORANT will make her a fitting addition to a position that many gamers have long requested.

All abilities for the new Agent, Waylay, in VALORANT

Here are all of her abilities, which deal with her becoming light or manipulating it in some form:

  • Refract: INSTANTLY create a beacon of light on the floor. REACTIVATE to speed back to your beacon as a mote of pure light. You are invulnerable as you travel.
  • Light Speed: EQUIP to prepare for a burst of speed. FIRE to dash forward twice. ALT FIRE to dash once. Only your first dash can send you upward.
  • Saturate: INSTANTLY throw a cluster of light that explodes upon contact with the ground, HINDERING nearby players with a powerful movement and weapon slow.
  • Convergent Paths (Ultimate): EQUIP to focus your prismatic power. FIRE to create an afterimage of yourself that projects a beam of light. After a brief delay, you gain a powerful speed boost and the beam expands, HINDERING other players in the area.

In VALORANT’s latest update, Waylay introduces a fresh debuff known as “Hinder.” This debuff slows down various aspects of gameplay including firing speed, recoil recovery, equipment deployment time, reload speed, movement pace, and jumping agility.

When does Waylay release in VALORANT?

You can obtain Waylay quite soon, as it will be unveiled together with the second act of Season 2025, which is scheduled for release on March 4, 2025. The new agent will be accessible the day after this release.

Initially, I opted for acquiring Waylay by either activating her contract or purchasing her, which then granted me sufficient XP. However, if I didn’t take that route, once the contract event concluded, I could add her to my team of Agents using Kingdom Points instead.
