Watch this streamer’s goldfish beat the Elden Ring DLC on Twitch

As a long-time spectator of the extraordinary feats achieved by Eric “PointCrow” Morino, I have to admit that I never thought I would see the day when his goldfish, Tortellini, would outshine its human counterpart. The fact that this aquatic wonder has not only conquered Elden Ring’s base game but also its challenging DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, is nothing short of astounding!

Eric “PointCrow” Morino has shown off quite a few impressive achievements, such as defeating “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” blindfolded and completing “Breath of the Wild” without walking. However, his pet goldfish has managed to outdo him. On Tuesday, the fish successfully conquered the final boss of the “Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree” DLC on Twitch.

On previous occasions, Tortellini, PointCrow’s goldfish, has triumphed over tough obstacles in Elden Ring. This aquatic pet, known as Tortellini, vanquished numerous foes and the main game boss of Elden Ring. However, its DLC is renowned for being even more challenging than the already formidable base game, so PointCrow wasn’t certain it would succeed this time around.

At the start of the stream, he expressed his doubt about whether we could win, but suggested that with your expertise on Elden Ring, he might be able to count on you for help.

PointCrow demonstrated how the fish controls the game within the stream. Utilizing a tailor-made program with machine learning capabilities, he monitors the fish’s movements throughout the aquarium. The tank has been digitally mapped, so when the fish moves to various sections of the tank, it triggers specific button presses. For instance, if the fish swims to the top-left corner, it simulates a press on the A button, or if it navigates to the bottom-right corner, it mimics a press on the L button.

In this game, the fish doesn’t play through from beginning to end or manage menus. Instead, PointCrow prepares the fish’s character by increasing its level and equipping it with a weapon and armor set, enhancing its chances against the boss. As a result, the goldfish was at level 713 when it faced Radahn, the ultimate boss in Shadow of the Erdtree.

Mostly, the stream had a relaxed vibe. Occasionally, Tortellini caught viewers off guard with swift evasive maneuvers or intense attacks, yet a significant part of the broadcast was spent devising strategies to aid the fish in victory. The livestream lasted close to seven hours, during which PointCrow and the audience gradually uncovered an effective mix of potions and blessings that boosted the fish’s chances. In the end, the triumphant formula comprised a variety of items such as the Blessing of Ertree, the Golden Vow spell, and the Iron Jar Aromatic, which were utilized to enhance the character beforehand.

Ultimately, following numerous attempts, some clever maneuvers, and perhaps a touch of good fortune, Tortellini managed to defeat the boss. It was a well-earned triumph, and you can see PointCrow’s excitement in the video below as he exclaimed, “That’s my goldfish!”

Despite the assistance provided, it’s tough to accept that the goldfish managed the feat. It had to evade obstacles, employ potions, and engage in combat. The task was far from simple. This is why numerous individuals find it challenging. However, with some extra aid, the goldfish eventually succeeded. If you’re seeking inspiration to tackle a tough boss in Elden Ring or any other game, this could be the encouragement you need.
