Watch the trailer for the penultimate episode of The Penguin on HBO!

As a dedicated fan who’s been following the twists and turns of Gotham City’s criminal underworld for decades, I must say, the latest episode of The Penguin left me absolutely spellbound! The cliffhanger with Oswald’s mother being kidnapped by Sofia Falcone and Sal Maroni has sent chills down my spine.

In the latest installment of “The Penguin,” titled “Gold Summit,” there was a jaw-dropping twist: Sofia Falcone and Sal Maroni, who had formed an alliance to challenge Oswald Cobblepot as he ascended the criminal hierarchy of Gotham City, managed to kidnap someone very dear to Oz – his mother, Francis, who appears to be the only individual besides himself that might elicit concern from him.

There are just two more episodes of the series titled “The Penguin” remaining. The second-to-last episode, titled “Top Hat,” will be aired on HBO and Max next Sunday evening at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (8:00 p.m. Central Standard Time). You can preview the trailer for “Top Hat” by clicking above.

It seems clear that Oz is petrified about the fate of Francis, as he’s now in the grasp of Oz’s most formidable adversaries. To make matters worse, Sal is hitting him with a golf club. I wonder how he’ll extricate himself from this predicament, but given his knack for escaping seemingly insurmountable situations, it’s likely that Oz has a few surprises left in store. With only two episodes remaining, we can anticipate that Oz might still have a couple of tricks hidden away.

The title of this episode is intriguing, and it may be a nod to the 1935 film “Top Hat,” starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Given Oz and his mother’s fondness for classic Hollywood movies, I’m confident they’ve both watched “Top Hat.

Additionally, it seems plausible that the title alludes to the Penguin’s long-standing characteristic of wearing a top hat as one of his defining traits in his role as a Batman villain. This grittier rendition of the Penguin might even adopt some of the iconic clothing items he has been connected with for many years.

So far, “The Penguin” has been an amazing series, and I can’t wait to find out how it ends. The storyline of “The Penguin” will serve as a prelude for the upcoming movie, “The Batman: Part II,” scheduled for release in 2026.
