Watch the trailer for Line of Duty star’s new British drama based on real-life tragedy

Disney+’s unveiled a teaser for an upcoming four-episode British series, featuring a beloved star from “Line of Duty.

The Tragic Shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes: A True Story” refers to a heartrending incident that took place in the wake of the London bombings on 7th July, 2005.

The Metropolitan Police quickly respond, taking firm steps and pursuing a Brazilian individual who is suspected to be their top target. An interaction with this suspect ends tragically, resulting in his fatal shooting.

Initially, it appeared that the authorities had acted correctly, but later, doubts arose about their decision. People in the public and even police officials began questioning if they were misguided by false information. A concern also surfaced as to whether truth and justice could still prevail in such circumstances.

The narrative is planned to be presented through various viewpoints of the participants, exploring how memories, whether accurate or warped, can be transformed into facts and influence our perception of reality.

The production boasts a powerful ensemble, featuring Daniel Mays from “Line of Duty”, Conleth Hill known for his role in “Game of Thrones”, Laura Aikman hailing from “Gavin & Stacey”, Max Beesley best recognized as The Gentleman’s character, Emily Mortimer who played a part in “Paddington in Peru”, Russell Tovey famously seen on “Years and Years”, and Edison Alcaide.

The four-part series was penned and overseen by Jeff Pope, who worked on both Philomena and Stan & Ollie, with Jean Charles de Menezes’ family members providing their expertise as advisors.

Recently, Disney+ has been unveiling a number of exclusive British productions. For instance, the series “Rivals” from last year and “A Thousand Blows” which premiered in February.

There’s also docuseries Welcome to Wrexham, which just confirmed the release date for season 4.

Starting from 30th April, you can stream all the episodes of the series “Suspect: The Shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes” on Disney+.
