Watch the trailer for Kristen Stewart’s near-perfect comedy that critics called “ferociously funny”

The first trailer for Kristen Stewart’s acclaimed new comedy Sacramento has been released.

Last year’s highly acclaimed film, initially receiving a flawless rating on Rotten Tomatoes (now standing at an impressive 95%), narrates the story of two ex-best friends embarking on an impromptu road journey together.

In the trailer, we are introduced to Rickey (portrayed by Michael Angarano), who is spotted perched in a tree outside his old friend Glenn’s (played by Michael Cera) residence following his expulsion from a discussion group.

Glenn, who’s having a baby with Stewart’s Rosie, shares with his partner that he’s attempting to “gradually reduce” or “distanciate” himself from Rickey in his life, despite the fact that she tends to be more understanding of their friendship.

After some discussion, they opt to set off jointly for Sacramento, with Rosie appearing appreciative to have Glenn leave the house, although Rickey perceives during the travel that Glenn feels restrained (or trapped).

Throughout the journey, Rickey intends to spread his dad’s remains – but a humorous mishap disrupts the plan – and in this moment, they share their hidden frustrations and emotions, as Glenn confesses that he’s apprehensive about becoming a parent.

In a critique penned by Loud and Clear, the movie titled Sacramento was described as fiercely funny. The reviewer pointed out that the humor in the film serves to illuminate the complex issues that the main characters grapple with as they seek answers.

The deadline highly commended the film for its exploration of strained friendships, anxiety over approaching parenthood, and the significance of open discussions about mental health. This topic was dealt with skillfully, maintaining a harmonious blend of sensitivity and comedy.

IndieWire noted that despite its laid-back appearance and seeming disinterest in achieving greatness, this work remarkably portrays the frightening impact of change on our lives.

In addition to Stewart, Cera, and Angarano (who is both director and co-writer), the movie features Maya Erskine from “Mr & Mrs Smith.”

Maya Erskine, who starred in “Mr & Mrs Smith,” is among Stewart, Cera, and Angarano (the director and co-writer) in this film.

Sacramento is released in US cinemas on April 11, with a UK release date yet to be confirmed.
