Ben Affleck is back as The Accountant in the first trailer for the hotly-anticipated action sequel.
As a fan, I’m excited about the upcoming movie The Accountant 2, where Ben Affleck reprises his role as Christian Wolff, an accountant with autism who uses his unique talents to uncover financial crimes for criminal organizations. In this sequel, we’ll see him continue his work of ‘cracking the books’ and rooting out embezzlement once again!
Following the happenings from the initial movie, Christian reconnects with his sibling Braxton, portrayed by Jon Bernthal from “The Bear”, and together they embark on an investigation of a homicide that has personal implications for them.
The clip reveals Christian’s pal, Treasury Director Ray King (JK Simmons), has been killed.
Just before he took his last breath, Ray managed to scrawl the message “Seek out the accountant” on his forearm. This implies that it’s Christian who has the ability to track down the murderer and bring closure to the case that Ray began.
Additionally starring Affleck, who jointly produces the film with Matt Damon, and Bernthal, the sequel features Cynthia Addai-Robinson returning as Marybeth Medina, a treasury agent who seeks Christian’s aid in a case but clashes with his unorthodox tactics.
Approaching the revelation of who wished harm upon Ray, the threesome finds themselves under the scrutiny of ruthless assassins, determined to hinder their investigation by any means necessary.
In a brief reappearance, Simmons takes on the character Ray once more. Additionally, joining the cast for the first time are Daniella Pineda, Allison Robertson, Robert Morgan, and Grant Harvey.
Gavin O’Connor and Bill Dubuque’s new movie, which is being released by the director, will make its debut at South by Southwest in March, and it will hit theaters nationwide on April 25th.
The Accountant 2 is released in US cinemas on April 25. A UK release date is TBC.
