As someone who has spent a considerable part of my life watching cooking shows and admiring the charismatic figures that grace our screens, I must say I am deeply saddened by the recent developments involving Gregg Wallace and the allegations against him.

Gregg Wallace made a shocking remark to a female contestant on last week’s episode of MasterChef.

60-year-old TV personality stepped down from their BBC One cooking program on a Thursday, allowing an investigation into alleged inappropriate conduct to be conducted by television executives.

13 individuals, among them Kirsty Wark, have brought allegations of inappropriate behavior against him during their professional association spanning 17 years and encompassing five different programs, from the year 2005 up until 2022, according to a report by the BBC.

Last week on MasterChef, Gregg sparked surprise when he remarked to a female competitor that he would “vigorously break up” or “thoroughly crush” her dessert.

Chef Chiara prepared a dessert consisting of barley and fermented rice pudding made from koji, topped with a blackcurrant sauce, apple-infused marigold oil, and a blackcurrant leaf-infused yogurt ice cream.

Following her homemade yogurt, Gregg commented: “The flavors are delightful, they have a hint of oatiness, a touch of nuttiness, and a subtle sweetness.

Wow, I can’t wait to thoroughly enjoy that yogurt ice cream! It has a tangy taste with just a hint of sweetness and ends with a flavor reminiscent of blackcurrants and apples. Quite a charming combination!

At present, Gregg is under scrutiny from BBC leaders due to a set of accusations that have been levied against him. These accusations claim he displayed inappropriate sexual conduct during his time as a former greengrocer.

According to reports, it is alleged that the celebrity cook entered the MasterChef set unclothed, except for a sock covering his lower body, and then performed an amusing dance, prior to this incident.

It’s alleged that during filming, Gregg was caught performing an inappropriate gesture towards a member of the production team who was bending down to tidy up his pants, as claimed in scandalous but currently unverified reports.

As an ardent enthusiast, I’ve got some intriguing news to share. According to The Daily Telegraph, they’ve spoken to a bystander who alleges they’ve witnessed these incidents involving our subject of interest. Now, this eyewitness claims that the individual in question was quite tactile, going so far as to describe them as ‘touchy-feely’. This bit of information, I must say, has certainly piqued my curiosity!

The former grocery store owner, now show host, has been charged with telling lewd sex jokes, such as one involving a relative, during a contestant’s dish tasting on the program.

It has additionally been alleged that Gregg behaved inappropriately by removing his shirt in the presence of a female colleague, claiming he was giving her a fashion demonstration. Furthermore, it is claimed that he openly discussed his personal intimate relationships with other individuals.

At one point, it was said that he supposedly mentioned to a junior female coworker that he wasn’t wearing briefs beneath his jeans.

13 individuals, among them Kirsty Wark, have voiced concerns regarding his behavior during their professional collaboration with him spanning a 17-year timeframe, covering five different programs, between the years 2005 and 2022, as exposed by the BBC.

Kirsty asserts that during the filming of Celebrity MasterChef in 2011, Gregg made stories and jokes with explicit content on at least two separate instances, which she found highly inappropriate in the presence of contestants and crew. She stated these remarks were completely out of place.

Twice, in mixed company, his choice of words veered towards the explicit, yet the room seemed eerily silent, as if everyone was frozen in discomfort. It took me aback, something I hadn’t anticipated, especially in such a public setting.

As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but share my excitement over Aasmah Mir’s recent throwback post! On a Thursday, she reminisced about her time in the 2017 Celebrity MasterChef series by posting a picture with a mysterious caption: ‘Always keep your receipts’. Whether this is a hint at a potential return or just a clever quote, I’m left eagerly speculating!

As a loyal devotee, I’m sharing that according to the BBC, I chose to step away from MasterChef yesterday. This decision followed a letter sent to my representative by BBC News on Tuesday, detailing accusations from 13 individuals. They graciously provided me with an opportunity to respond to these allegations before my departure.

In 2018, a complaint was made that apparently resulted in a warning for him. However, fresh historical allegations surfaced during the summer of 2024.

According to Banijay UK, Gregg is dedicated to working collaboratively every step of the way during this process.

On Thursday evening, as customary, Gregg will appear on BBC One since MasterChef: The Professionals, a pre-recorded show, will air as scheduled through December. Even the holiday specials of MasterChef are set to be aired.

Today, the chef hasn’t commented yet, but earlier during the afternoon’s announcement, he posted his prawn taco and pineapple salsa recipe on Instagram.

However, in October, Gregg firmly refuted accusations of making sexually inappropriate remarks towards women. He emphasized that he would never engage in flirting or making advances toward another woman, stating emphatically, “I did not make any sexual comments.

BBC News reportedly learned of additional accusations such as the presenter discussing intimate details about his personal life, exposing himself to a female coworker and suggesting a “fashion show,” and making inappropriate comments to a junior female coworker about not wearing underwear beneath his jeans.

Banijay has not revealed the nature of the allegations.

This week, Banijay UK reported receiving complaints about past misconduct accusations involving presenter Gregg Wallace on one of their shows, directly to the BBC.

Instead of waiting for the complaints to be brought up by the complainants themselves to our show producers or Banijay UK, we think it’s best to promptly carry out a thorough, unbiased investigation by an outside party.

During the ongoing review, Gregg Wallace has chosen to take a temporary break from his duties on MasterChef. He remains dedicated to providing full cooperation throughout the process.

At Banijay UK, we consistently prioritize the welfare of our team members. We ensure that our behavioral standards are transparently communicated to both cast and crew across all projects. On-set, we actively encourage methods for expressing concerns, some even allowing for anonymity, which are openly publicized on set.

Even though these claims are about the past, any instances that come to our notice where our standards aren’t upheld are rigorously examined and dealt with accordingly.

If you have something to share with us, whether it’s questions, suggestions, or worries, feel free to reach out to us at speakup@banijayuk.com. All communications will be kept confidential.

The BBC has said it takes any issues that are raised with it ‘seriously’.
