Watch the intense first-look trailer for Siobhan Finneran’s ‘rule-breaking’ new ITV crime drama

The eagerly awaited new ITV crime series, featuring Siobhan Finneran from “Happy Valley”, recently unveiled a gripping sneak peek trailer.

As per the summary, the forthcoming six-episode drama series titled Protection revolves around a suspenseful plot where the witness protection program faces significant challenges.

Detector Inspector Liz Nyles, portrayed by Finneran, experiences a dramatic shift in her life when she becomes entangled in a significant security issue that originates from within her Witness Protection Unit.

The movie starts off showing a gunfire incident at a private residence, which turns out to be a secret hideout. Officers promptly arrive on the spot to investigate the circumstances. It’s later discovered that Finneran’s character, Nyles, appears puzzled about how the location mysteriously got exposed.

She said, “I’ve gotten myself into quite a predicament,” which suggests that she was deeply involved in something hidden, namely an affair with a married coworker.

Later on, Nyles finds himself facing a situation where Katherine Kelly’s character suggests, “I have a feeling that you might be concealing something from me…” or simply puts it as, “There’s something you aren’t telling me, isn’t there?

The summary continues: “Liz is determined to clear her name, protect her loved one’s reputation, and ensure the safety of her witnesses and family, no matter what the cost, including defying all established rules.

The trailer also mentions that the film “Protection” is brought to you by the same talented team who created “Des”, a multiple award-winning production featuring David Tennant and Jason Watkins, as well as “White House Farm” and the recent crime drama “The Long Shadow”, where Katherine Kelly also appeared.

In addition to the main players, we have Nadine Marshall from Sherwood, Chaneil Kular known for Sex Education, and Barry Ward, who starred in Bad Sisters.

Protection is coming to ITV in the spring, with an exact release date not yet confirmed.
