Sky unveiled a trailer for its upcoming high-octane series titled Atomic, which is set to premiere towards the end of this month.
The show’s main character, Alfie Allen from “Game of Thrones,” portrays a drug smuggler named Max. This individual intersects with the enigmatic character JJ, acted by Shazad Latif known for his role in “Star Trek: Discovery.” In their chance encounter, an unforeseen bond develops between them.
In no time, an intense series of events will compel them to smuggle highly enriched uranium through North Africa and the Middle East. Meanwhile, they must elude capture by numerous entities keeping a close eye on their activities.
One of the individuals hot on their trail is CIA agent Cassie, portrayed by Samira Wiley. Cassie believes that the pair has connections to radical militants, yet finds out that there might be higher-level reasons behind pursuing them, reaching as high as the top echelons.
Accompanied by The Prodigy’s “Breathe”, this exhilarating trailer (as described by Sky) is packed with action and explosions, yet highlights the heartwarming camaraderie between the main characters. They aim to prevent their cargo from being utilized for lethal purposes.

Atomic” is a thrilling, cinematic journey spanning over five episodes, taking us through the complex maze-like medinas and bustling cities of North Africa, across harsh deserts and tense border zones.
Max and JJ ponder if there might be a chance for reconciliation, given their vibrant, humorous, and unpredictable friendship amidst all the chaos.

The series is adapted for television by the same team responsible for “Gangs of London,” as depicted in the non-fiction book titled Atomic Bazaar.
According to executive producer Gregory Burke, this tale revolves around the alarming reality of a time when acquiring nuclear weapons becomes more accessible than it has ever been before. It also delves into the immense potential we all possess – for good or evil.
Atomic premieres on Sky on Thursday 28 August, and will also be available to stream via NOW.
The latest print edition from Digital Spy, featuring “Oasis – Live in ’25”, is now available! You can purchase it at your local newsstands or online for only £8.99.
